I wonder why nobody seems to care about that annoying, spontaneous "Woooo!" after the cadence count.

Not to mention the profanity people yell in the cheer following Tiger Rag, you know "fight like h#!! d@#^it, and win!" Excuse me for saying so, but quite frankly this is highly inconsistent with the "family" atmosphere the university is trying to accentuate.

I don't give a flying fuck about your "family" atmosphere, Death Valley is supposed to be scary and intimidating, if you want to sip on your wine and stay seated and quiet in a family atmosphere, go become a University of Virginia fan.

They weren't all that worried about the crowd noise, but several of them noted that if they heard the fans say the "D-word," that would really cause problems for them. Big-time intimidation.

That would be one of a few reasons I would be very hesitant to take my children (when I have them) to a football game (Clemson or USC), at least until they're older.

And I don't particularly want them to start cussing, but some traditions aren't worth the hassle to change. This one in particular I have no real trouble with. Practically every school in the south has some sort of cheer or song with "hell" in it. Ramblin Wreck, anyone?
Several years ago someone p!ssed and moaned in The Tiger about the Tiger Band song "I need a beer" that the tubas play after every win. I went ballistic on that. I don't even drink beer but I happily sing that song after every win. Tiger Band made a concession and doesn't play the song until after the game's over, which I think stinks, but at least the band director gave up on trying to kill the song altogether.
If "d@mn" and "####" are the worst things kids hear in the stands, then I can live with that as long as it's not a constant stream. Half of those kids probably hear those words in church every Sunday, as someone has already pointed out.

Over a nice glass of warm milk and discuss it? The woo at the end of cadence count is a rebel yell and is cool. The woo, Hoo, woo, Hoo, Hoo, Hoo that some people desecrate our fight song with is sissified and not at all cool.
