Does it matter if ESecpn, Rivals, Scout, 24-7, or any other recruiting outlet drops the stars or drops a player in their rankings?

These young men's talent level did not all of a sudden change just because some sports writer decided to change his rankings. Some POP. Some FLOP.

Our coaches tend to know talent regardless of some site's star system. Our flops tend to be minimal.

If certain schools keep getting propped up while others are suppressed, it ultimately influences future recruits.

So while it may not matter, it matters.

Plus higher ranked classes makes it easier to get better

People always say it doesn't matter, and I understand what they mean, but it really does in many ways.

These recruiting sites prop up their own and suppress the ones they want by playing with the numbers.

I'm not saying that recruiting rankings are BS or are meaningless; clearly they have some predictive validity, and I appreciate the service they provide. Having said that, gaining or losing a star at this point has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on how good or bad any of these recruits are, how good or bad our recruiting class will actually be, or how good or bad our team will be in the future.
