Way home.
Truck said I had 46 miles left so I debated just getting gas on Monday morning on my way to work.
But then I saw mega millions was at like 170 million so I decided to hit QT and get a couple tickets..
I didn't come close to winning the lottery but that $4 i spent on 2 tickets sure saved me alot of hassle.

Ah I remember it well. The Oil Embargo of 1973 that caused prices to rise in 1974 from about .38cents per gallon to.55 cents and also caused gas rationing ,and long lines at the pumps for about 6 months.
My car was very unique. Every time I gave it gas, the hood mounted tachometer on my '69 GTO would go to the right, and the gas gauge would go to the left.
And we ain't talking politics!

Folks here were blocking intersections on a major US highway and 4 lane road/interstate junction/offramp, jumping the curb, driving over and waiting the sidewalk because a station "had gas".

I just drove to Greenville from greenwood and there were zero lines at gas stations. Gas was high everywhere at around $2.89 . I have a vague memory of a country that was energy independent...

That's probably because all the gas pumps are empty. At least that's why there are no lines at gas stations in Shelby NC right now...

and the media keeps calling it a "shortage" inciting more panic. There is no shortage. It's a crisis of our own making by everyone going to top off at the same time. Why don't they call it what it is?

And the "crisis" you mentioned is a result of good old Uncle Joe shutting down the Keystone Pipeline and not everyone going to top off at the same time.

I fear this situation is going to last all summer as it is reported that there is a shortage of truckers to transport the needed fuel from the refineries to stations. Great move in:
1. Cancelling the Keystone pipeline;
2. Extending the $300 per week benefits on top of unemployment. You can literally sit on your sofa and make $31,000 + a year.
3. Passing a totally unnecessary 5th COVID relief package of 2.3 Trillion. This is and will cause inflation.
Oh, and War is breaking out in the Middle East.
