Mundey tigah footbawl tawk.

Realistically what needs to be done to right the ship or is the ship unrightable?
TE ain't getting fired midseason. LynJ ain't coming back. Spiller ain't getting replaced, and neither is Caldwell....at least not mid-season I don't think.
I've got a few ideas: Dabo, it's your program. YOU call the plays next week. You don't even have to make an announcement and put TE to it publicly. Just do it.
Puma has GOT to start. What's the worst case scenario? Does our coaching staff REALLY think not a one QB on that roster would outperform DJ at this point? We're past 4 games, and yes it will make the boy and room uncomfy. Fragile egos will need to be navigated. This is why we pay CDS the big bucks. Pull your bawls out and DO IT.
How TE can look at the tight end room with a straight face is beyond me. You coach them boys all day then don't throw to 'em. F that. Dabo needs to get 'em in there.
Start installing new stuff on offense. F your lack of execution. Run some trick plays. Start throwing the ball down field on every play. Something. Get creative. I think we are ALL open for suggestions at this point.
Move JRoss outside NOW. And permanently. Don't have a slot WR? WGAF? Stick Will Brown in there for all I fugging care. Something's gotta be done.
I'm all done buying the rhetoric that our offense is all good and stuff against our D in training, and then they just shidddd the bed during games. That's not how this works. They've been shat since the spring. CDS knows it, TE knows it, CBV knows it, and TRDJ knows it.
Nearly every offense in CFB that I've seen this year looks WAY better than us. Figure it out. We've got the dudes. Figure out who needs to be on the field, get them in the right position, and change up the mentality on offense.
I think all of tigernation will be patient with the season provided we see some kind of progress and/or evolution. Otherwise this will be a beyotchfest for the rest of the season. And I'll tellya, I HATE all the negativity on the boreds right now but it has been earned and it is expected at this point.
Maybe CDS and TE can swap wives for a week. SOMETHING. DO SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Thx, go tigers, the end.

He may be the type to encourage 5 to transfer once he looses that #1 spot, but I don't think for a minute he could hinder our recruiting. Maybe on a kid or 2 but nothing more than that.

If Puma is healthy, put him in and run speed option and zone read until the defense stops it. If he isn't, maybe try some Will Taylor wildcat.
I have no clue what can be done other than those desperation moves. Rolling pocket? Start taking deep shots? Better figure it out soon because the defense isn't holding people to 10 points with these injuries piling up.
You're right about moving Ross outside. Why do we have 6 huge receivers and no slot man? Bad roster management.
I disagree about the tight ends though. We've gone to Galloway on two key plays this season and he dropped them both.
There was a good thread on twitter showing the motion/confusion we used to run. No clue why we don't still do that. Maybe DJ can't manage it?

Speaking of Will Taylor, the 'ole
Sep 27, 2021, 9:17 AM

let's get him in for a snap to hand the ball off once per game is a stupid waste of time. Honestly it feels a little like "boy you skip that MLB and come here, I'll get you some snaps. It may be one per game at QB, but you're gonna get snaps".

He's a great athlete. Put him in the slot, jet sweep, wildcat, whatever... We need offensive production. He's worth a shot.

can't see the brilliance of setting Taylor up to throw a pick six on his one snap somewhere around the 9th or 10th game. Offensive play calling is a long game, but obviously you don't get that.

And the thing that stands out is we are running the. same. exact. plays. for. 6. years.
Game planning against Tony's offense has to be the easiest job of the year for opposing DCs.

I misread your post. You are 100% right about the plays staying the same year after year. Except, somehow, it seems like we are running a dumbed down version of the 2015 playbook. Fewer plays, no motion, no tempo,

We may be proper ###### with the RB situation for a few weeks. And even in the moments where I saw TE make good play calls, DJ failed to execute. For example, the tipped INT that would have been a big play for our tight end had DJ not tried to rip his hands off with the hardest possible thrown pass.

Boy can throw a football straight through drywall, but we don't need that on every play. He has no touch. Couple that with bad footwork and you start to scratch your head on Streeter. He's been hiding in a corner for almost a decade because we had Watson and Trevor. There's been no development at QB for anyone. Those 2 all time greats came in as all time greats. All streeter did was say throw it and them fuggers threw it.

I don't think there's anything in the short term.

Long term, Swinney needs to go back to his roots.
Humble Swinney won a bunch of games by investing in the top coordinators in the game---even carving off a chunk of his own salary to pay them. I'm not just talking Venables. Yes, Chad Morris was far from perfect, but did develop footwork with quarterbacks and their play improved under his tenure. He installed the hurry-up spread offense that TE has watered down. But that roadmap Morris left behind, PLUS the Venables defense is what delivered championships.
Humble Swinney is 10x better than stubborn Swinney---won't bench an ineffective QB even for a quarter, won't rotate linemen trying to "force" a chemistry that isn't there. Won't bring in outside help. We need humble Swinney again.

Although it suggs donkey bawls, I think the injuries on the D may be the only spark to create change.
I can see Dabo, TE, and BV in a room and Dabo says, "Look, if we can hold everyone to 7 or 10 points, even we can sqeeze two TD's out of our shid O. That's all it will take, 2 TD's"
But now, we ain't holding anyone to 7 to 10 points, so that game plan goes in the hopper. We have GOT to score points now. No more leaning on the D we damm near broke last game with 40 minutes on the field.
