ESPN leaves Etienne out of Heisman discussion

Aug 28, 2019, 4:12 PM

I continue to think of the Heisman as one of the most over-hyped things on the planet. But anyhow....

ESPN's College Football Live (expanded to an hour this year) talked about players who could win the Heisman - other than a QB this year. Their picks? If not a QB, then likely it would be a RB - either J.K. Dobbins at OHST or Jonathan Taylor at WIS. Not a word - zero - about Etienne.

Speaking of the over-hyped Heisman - when is the privately owned board of rich guys that controls the thing gonna slide a bit toward the 21st Century (even the 20th Century) and start awarding the trophy AFTER the season is over - instead of limiting it only to the 12 regular season games? That's the dumbest thing they do! Maybe it worked in the '30s - but NOW? Just plain stupid.

He’s the dark horse this year because all the light is on QB’s, especially Trevor.
Don’t expect that to slow him down though, Travis should be showing up on Award lists as the season progresses.

The heisman would be cool to have a winner, but I would rather consistently win national championships instead of consistently winning heismans any day and our players have said the same. You don't go to Clemson to be an individual stat machine, you go there to be a building block to complete a team which is why we don't go for talent overload but chemistry at positions and continue to win at the highest level.

If GT plays nickel (4-2-5) the whole game like what has been talked about, then ETN will be in the discussion come week 2.

with over 200 yards rushing and 3 TDs you may have prophesized it.

If TL doesn't get hurt, he will remain the media's golden boy on Clemson. Understandably so.

IMO, the passing game is going next level this year. The running game will be much like last year except ETN will get a few more carries.

ETN shouldn't mind this at all because NFL scouts don't watch game film in their draft rooms the way fans and media watch college football on TV. He knows what he needs to do to move up draft boards.
