I listen to a lot of ESPN radio on SXM (channel 84). And all of those guys all year long were pushing the narrative that Clemson wasn't good because the ACC wasn't good. About 2 weeks ago, they started to change that narrative a bit so as not to look like complete idiots. Now, whenever the discussion of Who Should Be #1 comes up, 100% of them talk about how #1 gets to avoid Clemson in the first round.
Everybody on the planet knows Clemson is very good. Clemson will be favored to win against any of the other contenders. This narrative also includes the myth that LSU and OSU will be included in the CFP even if they lose their conference championship games.
Once you understand that these guys are paid to push a narrative for ESPN's profits, it just becomes a minor annoyance. They are the PR department for Disney Corp. We have wrongfully assumed they were unbiased sports journalists with objective commentary.

And then Ohio State 40-10.....
It will be rinse and repeat time. Last year we were incredible. TL was a shoe-in for the Heisman. We went 15-0. We obliterated arguably the best Alabama team ever. Who can ever stop us.
All that went out the window with UNC. I swear our coaches plan an off game where they just keep it close to keep our players honest. Pitt (loss), Syracuse, UNC, it's like we take one game off each year.

Exactly......they all know who the #1 team in the country is and it is not LSU or Ohio State......Clemson is coming soon and they are all trying to brace themselves again for what happened to them last year....and the funny part about it is they can not do anything about it to stop us no matter how hard they have tried.....Go Tigers!!!!!

Does the ranking really matter? Clemson is ranked about where they should be. They can’t rank us higher due to schedule strength.
The rest is wishful thinking mixed with drama to get more views. It works.... y’all quote Finebaum every single week, so his scheme is working.
Let them keep it up... they aren’t fooling anyone by flip flopping now and it just gives the team more motivation. I’d much rather see this than “rat poison”.
The only downside is the lack of consideration for several of our extremely talented players.
