Saw it coming a mile away

Sep 20, 2021, 9:09 PM

especially after being publicly called out. Not saying it was right or wrong, but I knew the news of LJD transfer would come before the midway point of the season.

Just strange that he waited his turn for four years and was never in any kind of trouble and then this issue with him pops up this year. Not sure what to believe in this case.

Sucks to lose him though.

Yep. It was a certainty.

because they have won national championships and thus never make mistakes.

because of the success they have had, but this scenario just seems strange to me.

I can tell you that TE was LJD running back coach for his time here and then CJ came in and from what I hear LJD and T Feaster we’re good friends and Spiller really did not care much for Feaster taking his number out of retirement and then going to the coots. Spiller came in and there was immediate tension and LJD was trying to mentor the younger backs under TE’ s way and Spiller was not having any of it if he was going to teach it his way and they had some intense words which upset Dabo and he made the spiller hire and is going to back him and told LJD to follow your coaches advice and LJD felt disrespected because he felt like he was trying to help his teammates . End of story!

Understand your sentiment, but I have to believe...

...that recent incidents (that we're not privy to) happened with LJD to prompt Dabo to basically usher him out the door. Don't think we've ever seen him publicly call out a player like that (except to a lesser extent BT Potter couple years ago). So, I have to think it was egregious enough that Dabo didn't mind saying what he said and let the chips fall where they may. Very surprised that he said it though. He's usually fiercely protective and complimentary of players even when they have one foot out the door. Just pure speculation on my part, but something seems to have happened that was bad enough that Dabo decided there wasn't a place for him here.

Lyn J apparently was the only guy with an issue with Spiller. No idea on the background but that's a red flag to me

Yep, must of been some bad interactions...

...between the two that were beyond the normal player disagreements with his position coach. Just speculation, but Dabo pretty much said as much. Actually, Dabo said a whole lot which is unusual and leads me to believe that relationship was broken beyond repair for whatever reason.
