Enny yous guise invested in the Hydroflask Coolers yet?
Jul 15, 2021, 8:18 AM

Was reading reviews of the "new" Yeti Hopper M30 and they make the magnetic closure seem like a nightmare. Then I see that Hydroflask is entering the cooler game with a similarly sized "bag" cooler but costs about half the YETI.

36 hours cold Watertight zipper and welded seams ensure leak proof transport Durable 600D polyester shell is ultra-light and waterproof TRU® Zip zipper is waterproof, dust-proof, toothless, with a smooth and secure pull-to-close design Removable cross-body strap and shoulder straps provide multiple carry options FDA food grade, BPA free-liner Stretch pocket Laser cut welded gear attachment loops Woven loops easily attach our Dry Storage accessory Note: TRU® Zip zipper is engineered to be silent, requires less pulling force, and is self-healing. Should the zipper separate for any reason, simply slide the zipper to realign.
Looks like the RTIC soft coolers are few and far between now as well. I have an RTIC 45 and when we get a beachfront house, it aint too bad to carry out and it serves as Greenr's beach seat. This year we are on the second row and Greenr has a little injury that will probably keep him from dragging that heavy old bi>tch out (the cooler). We snagged a cart that says it can carry 150#, but I have my doubts.

These are great, except when kids need a sandwich or a snack or something to drink and they fail to close it back properly so I spend my entire time rolling the top down and closing it. Same with the dry bag when we go do something that requires it. They just toss it back to me to close.

wheeled wagons this year. Before that they had the big balloon tired ones. We rented a wagon again like we usually do and got one of those pieces of junk. The crappy ones have wheels big enough that they look like they will work, but they sink right in the sand. Won't rent again.

I have a Yeti bag cooler thing

It has the magnetic closing lid.
It was a gift. I don't especially love it.
It's not bad, but the biggest issue is that you can't keep the cooler open, you have to prop it open with a stick or some hold it open with 1 hand and dig around with the other.
Now, it keeps ice and beer cold for an eternity. it's easy to throw in the boat, and it totes around pretty easily.
I wouldn't spend my own money on it, though.

I didn't realize they got rid of the zipper (and any bag cooler under $300)

cut it to the proper width of the bag. I just attach it to one of the tacticool loop things on the cooler and it's not so bad.
Actually, I could probably make it out of plastic, slap a yeti sticker on it and sell it for $50.

zipper, which is on purpose to keep the cold in the cooler. Plus the wax they gave you to help the zipper close more easily, didnt really do anything to help. Also, at the end of the zipper there is a very rigid piece of plastic that when you ran the zipper over that, it truly sealed it. People would stop short of that piece and so hot air would get inside and thus complaints. So they started developing a new idea, wham bam, magnetic.
This is all straight from a product manager at Yeti.

Got a friend with that one and a friend with the YETI one and they love them, although not sure I can get all my beer, wife's drinks, kid snacks, etc in there for a day at the beach. Sacrifices would have to be made and hungry kids get annoying.
