but I would much rather meet in person than through Teams. But now everyone has gotten super lazy and wont go to an office and think its ok for their kid to join too. Your kid is cute, but IDGAF about your kid right now.

While I enjoy the ability to tune out and do other things

while in a meeting, I hate the fact that now everything anyone wants to say they think it is fine to call a meeting since it is on Zoom.
It has made the "this meeting could have been an email" perspective even worse since people think scheduling a Zoom meeting isn't that bothersome since everyone is already on their computers anyway.

I keep my camera off. Allows me to do other things

Last meeting the lead was all "Everyone on this meeting needs to turn on their camera." One guy of the 20-ish on the meeting complied.
The biggest issue I have with Zoom is that it's a complete bandwidth hog. When I'm on wifi and a VPN, Zoom is the complete suck. And it's worse when everyone has video turned on.
At least Zoom's background noise filter is OK. Webex's is teh suxxor.
And I don't know anyone who actually uses Skype.

transitioning to TEAMS for a year or more.
I don't do the background filter, you can see the sh>it behind me for all I care. Problem is, I have to look at least presentable if I turn the camera on. We have to for a couple meetings a month, but most of the time, it is audio only, especially to share screens.

When travelling I have a collared shirt on, my hair combed

But...when I travel I'm at a vendor's facility and they don't allow camera use by non-employees.
When I'm home, I don't shave and t-shirts are standard attire. And hair combed? ### for? Wifeof- doesn't care. Kidsof- don't care.
And I'm all in agreement on not using a filter. There's nothing behind me anyway, so I don't care.

I generally keep it pointed at my ceiling or some other point in the room where I am not. It's been effective so far.

Although turning off your camera and listening from your car helps, if you don't have to have a speaking role.
I did like them during quarantine for poker with old friends. Get on a site with a good engine, Venmo your buy-in to one person, then he pays out everyone at the end. Made the quarantine a little more fun.

I hadn't played poker with those guys other than sporadically when visiting the in-laws after moving to Atlanta.
Game hosted on whichever has a "poker club" section where we could just start home games.
VenMo/Paypal the buy-in and pay-outs.
Good times.

That's the site we found. Sounds and looks pornish until you click on it.
Apparently it was just one guy running this thing and his traffic boomed during the quarantine. Pretty good engine he has there.

as much as they need.
It's the stupid meetings with management that are unnecessary and take away time I could be working with students one-on-one to help them.
