Enlighten me - I don't know much about NCAA violations

Jul 23, 2013, 12:07 PM

How is Clowney having conversations with Jay-z a violation if there is no benefits being extended (payment, free stuff, etc.)

Just curious. tia.

As I understand it,any player can have conversations with a registered agent as long as no extra benefits are extended to the player. Although Jay-z is registered as an agent with the NBA and MLB, he apparently is not registered as an agent with the NFL. As such, he would be considered a "runner" for his agency, and it is against NCAA rules for a player to have any coversations with a runner.

My guess is because Jay-Z is in the sports agent business

And any time college athletes speak to agents it raises questions. And the verbal offers of "If you sign with me in January I'll give you a Maserati"

Simply talking to an agent is not an NCAA violation***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Not a violation until Jay Z buys him a new pet rock.***

We need to hope they beat themselves?

Sounds like a lot of folks are hoping we don't have to face the best our opponents have to give.

I remember when we weren't scared of another team's best, because we could give back better than we got.

I guess that has gone the way of dollar gas and the carrier pigeon.
