Email from School

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FROM SOME DICKBAG AT MY KID'S SCHOOL:
Dear Parent/Guardian,
This email is to inform you that your son/daughter [9 year old daughteradidas] has turned their chromebook charger in due to a broken charger (bent charger at end) and has been issued a replacement charger on 30 MAR 2022.
A $39 fee has been added to their account for the damaged charger and can be paid to [office lady at school] in the front office at 803-[redacted].
Thank you!
[elementary school's] Help Desk
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MY REPLY:
We will not be paying a $39 fee for a replacement charger. If this is a problem, then feel free to take the replacement charger back from [9 year old daughteradidas].
Ryan
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SARAHADIDAS UNNECESSARILY PIGGYBACKING MY EMAIL WITH HER PATENTED OVER-THE TOP BITCHYY FLAVOR:
?Furthermore, we were actually TOLD not to pay for the optional protection plan for the device. I can verify that with an email sent from the school on August 2, 2021.
Sent from my iPhone
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FROM SOME DICKBAG AT MY KID'S SCHOOL:
The Optional Protection Plan covers accidental damage to the chromebook due to accidental damage like a drop. It does not cover damage due to charger damage (bent end). I will give her the original charger back that was broken.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ REPLY FROM SARAHADIDAS:
We will order her one to use if we don’t have something compatible. We were unaware of this issue at all. We are sorry for your trouble, but almost $40 for a charger seems unreasonable when we didn’t even know there was a possibility of charges related to the district issued devices that are required for their class.
Sent from my iPhone
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few things: 1. These kids were issued school laptops and chargers. They are re-used each year. No telling how old these things are. The charger prong getting bent sounds like something that is fully expected to happen over the long life-span of a child owned and maintained laptop that gets hauled back and forth to school in a bookbag EVERY DAY. It wasn't negligent and this has not been a problem with her in the past. Surely they should just give her a new one and tell her to take care of it better... If my mouse quit working on my work computer... my employer would 100% buy me a new one, and wouldn't complain about it... Am I way off here? This seems stupid A.F.
2. I contend that if Sarahadidas would have left him alone and not sent her bitchyy email (Furthermore??? lulz what a B-word), he probably would have just given her a charger. Sarahadidas always has to go over-the-top to be a b-word. It's sorta like being a Karen, but not quite. I don't know what it is, but plenty of women do this. I hate it. Plus she brought up some sort of optional warranty that apparently is irrelevant, giving school Dickbagg an easy out. Then she walks it all back by apologizing in her last reply. Total beta move. Frankly, she can't interact with other people and lacks the forethought to function as an adult. Maybe I'm being harsh, though. Also, don't tell her I said this.

Am I way off base for thinking it is dumb for schools to give middle and high schoolers a laptop? It seems unnecessary.

They've been bringing laptops back and forth since at least 3rd grade... maybe earlier.

We will not be paying a $39 fee for a replacement charger. How about you GIVE me a new charger and then I don't burn your house to the ground and wait outside your front door to slap you in the mouth with a squarenose shovel as you attempt to flee the deadly inferno?
Hugs and kisses, Ryan

I figured you’d be thorough enough to barricade the exits so that they were prevented from fleeing, while being able to see you outside to remove all doubt as to who brought about their demise. Shovel to the face seems a little unorganized.

and gradually escalate as needed.
What Sarahadidas did was to take a wood pile that I had just throw some gas on and throw more gas on before waiting to see if the match would light.
She doesn't respect my process.

"Oh, you returned this charger with a bent prong. Here's your bill."
And since the school didn't buy the new charger, you better remind SarahAdidas that the new charger belongs to you, not the school. #### those guys, you get to keep that new one.

in the state.
2. We give kids chargers all the time. No big deal.
3. Sounds like a CYA email for a district policy. I'm sure if your daughter would have asked for a charger somebody would have given her one. Also I don't see them holding you to that charge (lulz).
4. Until your wife's email. Now they are sticking to the policy and you will be billed for the charger either way.
Something simple made a lot worse by snippet emails. I see it all the time.
No offense SarahAdidas

hour and $6.90 respectively ?
Pay it - ask for a receipt - keep it at the end of the year - if you wanna win the petty battle.
Or buy a $14 one on Amazon and donate it to the skool at the end of the year to show your unspoken riches.
You aren’t gonna change skool administrators over a $40 disposable thingamabob.
