If you could change one thing about the BCS,

Nov 15, 2012, 3:10 PM

what would it be? (besides get rid of it)

Mine would be to not have it come out until after the conference championship games are played. I think the poll voters look at the BCS and adjust their votes to try to get it to match up. This would make people base their rankings more on how teams look in their games than some computer saying that a team has a weak schedule or strong schedule based on their conference.

make margin of victory matter.........

Nov 15, 2012, 3:17 PM

that way if you DO have a weak schedule (as we do and we can't help it) it would give some credit to beating the "crappy teams" by 4 touchdowns.........which is what we "should" do to those teams.

and vice versa i hate moral victories, but if you play a hard fought game against a very tough team and lose by little you should get credit for it.

Something that you sorta mentioned that can never be taken into account by computers and kinda relates to the above statements.........the EYE TEST.

UF????????????? come on

and while i do think SCar is a good team......ANY other team woulda fallen like a rock after getting beat 44-11........to ANY TEAM

Decent suggestion but

Nov 15, 2012, 3:24 PM

what about coaches that refuse to run it up on other teams because they respect the opposing coach?

The coaches with no respect for anything will make their teams look better. TCU proved in the Rose Bowl a few years ago that Wisconsin running the score up on Indiana didn't actually make them a good team.

2 comments on that.........

#1 I don't care...don't stop playing your game just b/c the other team can't stop you

#2 winning by a good margin isn't always "running it up".......we beat duke 56-20.....and I don't think we ran it up..........UF beat SCar 44-11.....i don't think they ran it up.
I'm all for getting a 4 TD lead then putting in your backups, but let your backups PLAY THE SYSTEM........for example sometimes when cole stoudt is put in he doesn't get to "throw it around" like tajh did nor does zac brooks get the same play calls as ellington......play the system don't let up.......that's just me

The "points" for margin of victory can stop at a certain point, or after a certain lead is taken they can be greatly reduced.

This awards higher margins of victory but prevents any incentive to run the score up if coaches are worried about that.

Destroy the computers. Or...

Nov 15, 2012, 3:33 PM

Make strength of schedule worth not even have of what it is now in the computers. It's weighted way too much into it. Wins and losses do not seem to matter at all to the computers with 5-5 teams being in the top 25.

Well,

Nov 15, 2012, 3:44 PM

they are about to do the opposite when it comes to the new 4 team playoff.

The benefit of this for college football fans is that teams will stop scheduling FCS cup-cake games (like Bama vs Western carolina this weekend). Us fans will get to see matchups the matter. That's a win for any fan of the game.

"Stalwart universities—Harvard, Princeton, Yale—most certainly offer status. The Citadel offers character. "

Kick out buttkiss Notre Dame until they're in conference

I think the biggest fix in college football would be to delay all polls until at least the 4th week of the season. 6th would probably be better.
