Austin is too liberal for me. Sorry.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then you'll be missing out

May 21, 2012, 10:41 PM

Great town to catch a show and have a drink. Fun fun city

Like a lot of "liberal" places, Austin is a heII of a lot of

May 21, 2012, 10:41 PM [ in reply to Re: Austin TX*** ]

Fun! not saying I would want to live there but it is a great place to visit and the only really good trip in the Big 12.

Also, I live less than 45 minutes from Asheville and I promise you Asheville is more liberal (however you would define it) than Austin... I like going into Asheville for victuals, other necessities and live music, but I would NEVER live in the City limits...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

eh...I will make Norman, OK just to see boomer sooner!

nm

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree 100%

May 21, 2012, 10:56 PM [ in reply to Re: Austin TX*** ]

I hate Austin and yes I've been several times. Yes it has 6th street but frankly you can find a bunch of bars in most every city with a major college. No thank you.

traffic is horrible, i only go to visit family.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow - Austin and San Antonio are the only two cities in TX

May 21, 2012, 11:12 PM [ in reply to I agree 100% ]

That I enjoy at all. Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth are horrible though not as bad as Lubbock or Midland / Odessa.

That said, I love west Texas - the area in and around Big Bend in particular (Marfa, Alpine, Ft. Davis, Terlingua, McKittrick Canyon). West Texas is as they say out there the Real Texas. West Texans have the same contempt for Dallas and Houston as people in northern and central California (the real California) have for LA.

hands down Norman, OK

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's certainly one of the two games I would most look

May 21, 2012, 10:48 PM

Forward to, but as a road trip I think you will be disappointed. Not much to Norman ...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Opies is great but I'm an OKC guy. Would rather stay there

May 21, 2012, 10:54 PM

and drive to Norman.

May 21, 2012, 11:03 PM

Re: And this is an absolute MUST - stay in Pittsburgh

May 21, 2012, 11:41 PM

After encountering WVU fans in Miami, I think I'll skip the trip to Morgantown.

Agree. But inside the stadium, that place is LOUD! Was out there for the Texas Tech/Oklahoma game when TTU was ranked #2. Awesome crowd and good fans around us.

Take it from a kid that grew up spending his saturdays at dk royal, make the trip to Austin if we go the big 12.
Personally I am looking forward to finally making the trip up to Fort Worth, Norman, and Stillwater for some football.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Based on personal experience ... Austin ROCKS for all ages!***

I know we're mainly talking football here...

May 22, 2012, 1:27 AM

but a trip to Allen Fieldhouse is a must for any of our basketball fans here. KU fans are knowledgeable about the game and way different from the wine and cheese crowd we're used to in Chapel Hill.

Ames, Iowa!

May 22, 2012, 6:24 AM

I love corn and corn based products.
