Mentioned earlier we got a PS5. Wife paid for it online. Her card was charged. We got the email and app notification that it was ready for pickup. Go to leave the house and app shows order canceled. Call, and yep. It was cancelled. Technical issue...lol. They say they will refund her card. SHE IS ABOUT TO GO APE#### with the manager right now on the phone.

about a month ago. Ordered some Levi's from Amazon. Everything smooth with order, confirmations, all that jazz.
ON DAY OF DELIVERY, after I got message that order was loaded on the delivery truck to be delivered, order was cancelled. No explanation. Money refunded. Done. Had to go find some elsewhere.
Seems like this is the way of the world in this new economy, not sure why. Long delays, cancellations, terminations of orders.
It was my first order from Amazon in maybe 5 years. Maybe they just don't like me.

I just can’t understand why. A mistake was made. No big deal and why does it have to escalate from that point. Just say it sucks and move on. The Manager can’t really do much but try and find you one at another location. Like what do you want him to do? Poop it out?
It’s more than 90% likely they are in a tight inventory situation and a return is showing as a sellable unit or they are running in negative stock which won’t always trigger an out of stock on the website.
Don’t be an entitled jerk. Be an adult.

Offer them one off the next truck, a free gift card, SOMETHING. I don't really care, but it's our son who has probably been excited all day, that's who I feel bad for. Chick fil a screwed up an order once, and gave us a free sandwich. THAT is how you handle things when you make a mistake.
But yeah, wife asked for an email confirming the cancellation. Since she can't trust then to have the product they charged her for, she wants to make sure they refund the money at least.
Heck, my own business, I lost an assignment one time. Was totally my fault. Technical error. Put people in a bind. I busted my butt, did the report, got it out (barely) in time, and didn't charge them a penny for it. $1,500 loss.
Anyway, I'm not entitled to anything I know. If you want good customer service, move to almost any foreign country, or find a local mom and pop shop.

when I bought my shotgun. Ordered, cancelled a few minutes later. Ordered a few days later, cancelled a few minutes later.
Finally got an order to confirm, so I rushed to the store to pick it up. The manager was having a conversation with another worker at the gun counter saying that they had 2 orders for one gun. I knew it was mine and they picked a random number to call to say that their order was being cancelled. My phone started ringing. I didn't bother answering, but told them I was there to pick up my order. They said that since they hadn't called the other person yet and since I was there, they'd sell me the gun.
They said they had instances where merchandise was purchased online but didn't register at the store and the product had already sold in store. This is probably the case you've got here.

Recently there was an item I was looking for that was sold out just about everywhere around. Online it said there were 3 left in the Anderson Home Depot (0 everywhere else within 100 miles). Awesome, let's go.
I drive to Anderson, but there are none there to be found. HD personnel said never believe what the online stock tells you, there are a number of reasons it may not be accurate.
Lesson learned.

Industry wide problem right now

Managing in store inventory against online purchases as things are bought in person is trickier than it sounds when managing at scale. Were working on it, but this is the most difficult use case to solve for.
If you buy something online, it takes X minutes for an operator to go select and physically hold the inventory. The item may already be in another cart in-store, or there may be a race condition with 2 ecom orders and one in person pick up fighting for 2 in inventory. Tough to manage to perfection.
On top of this, only a few firms have the ship from store model close to good, and only one or two firms have the software to run a network as such.
Were working on it. Stores are going to look very different in 5 years.

But for reals. We got patents filed for some cool #### coming out with respect to automated in store fulfillment and pick up. The software layer at scale for OMS is the tricky part but we're working on it.

screw it up, figuring that's better than having the hoards destroy the store fighting over them if they put them on the shelves. Only way I can see it. What gets me is wife placed the order at 7am. Everything went through. Her card was charged. At 10am she received an email that her order was ready for pickup. BUT, come to find out the order was cancelled about 5 minutes after she placed it. Meaning 2+ HOURS after they cancelled the order, they sent an email saying it was ready for pickup.
And I'm ###### glad we checked the app before driving 30 minutes across town.
Just so much fail.

Like I said, no one in the states can really do turn key in store or ship from store fulfillment yet. I've had too many beers to dive into details haha. But inventory is at the enterprise level, payment too. POS data isn't fed to Targets ERP so it's updated nightly.
Bunch of nerdy #### man but it'll get there.
