Sorta like Gene Chizik at Auburn***
Auburn hired him from Iowa State after he coached them two years ( 2008-2009 ) with a 5-19 won loss record**
At Auburn he was 33-19 over all, but did win a national title in 2010 ( 14-0 record, him and "Scam Newton" ) they fired him two years later after going 3-9 with ""zero"" SEC wins*
Chizik received $11.09 million buyout ( $7.5 for him ) remainder was for his assistants )
wonder how much $$$$$$$$$ Ol'Ed will take with him, when he leaves LSU ??????

I read an LSU board after the game. Several guys on their were saying that the agreement was reached last Thursday to let him coach till then end of this year. I had no idea if they knew anything or were just guessing.
I guess they knew something.

I guess LSU has decided that mediocrity is unacceptable even if you won it all in the last 2 or 3 seasons. Dabo.... are you listening. You sir need some staff changes!!

The Ed Orgeron and Dabo Swinney resumes are sooo comparable, and I'm sure Orgeron getting fired has opened Dabo's eyes, otherwise he'd think a year of subpar results was acceptable.
Thanks Ed and jeffro!

If changes are not made in this staff during the offseason we are in trouble. Anyone who cannot see that is a fool. Love Clemson more than anything in sports, but I refuse to look the other way! Dabo is becoming quite arrogant and honestly his denial is nauseating!!

Too early to say the programs are on the same trajectory.
LSU finished .500 last year and is looking down that barrel again. Coach O has one conference championship, one playoff appearance and one national championship with a 74% win percentage.
Clemson finished 10-2 last year on a 10 year streak of 10+ seasons. We'll finish somewhere between 8-4 and 10-2. Dabo has seven conference championships, six playoff appearances, four title game appearances and two national championships.

Ed O’s record is no where close to Dabo’s. Get a grip on reality.

Early names.

Early names being tossed out: Dave Aranda, Mel Tucker (MI ST), Brian Kelly, James Franklin, Billy Napier, Luke Fickell.
I have no idea. The first name I thought of was Dave Aranda. He was DC when they went 15-0 two years ago. He has Baylor at 6-1 with the only loss being to Ok St.
But, LSU may think, "We have to hire a proven head coach." They could go elephant hunting and try to get James Franklin. He's probably the biggest name available. (Saban, Swinney, Fisher ain't going.)
I expect rumors in the next few days to include Lane Kiffin, Lincoln Riley, Matt Campbell among others.
Me? I know nothing. But, I expect LSU already has an agreement in principle with someone. Just a matter of mutually agreeing on when they will announce it.

Plot twist...Coach O & his team wins out. LSU admin goes

"Well ####, what do we do now?" Given O's track record as an interim, they bring in a new coach but retain Coach O to be "Permanent Interim HC" to step in at each coaching fire

You can't coast on a two year old Natty forever.
Janet Jackson sang it best: What have you done for me lately.

This makes sense. With NIL you don’t really need scummy dirtbags like Orgeron as your coach/figurehead. You can just pay the players above the table and not have to hide it through donations to some hospital foundation. When his coordinators jumped ship after the Natty he was exposed as not being very crucial to their success.
