Send in some gunships and evacuation planes/ helicopters and paratroopers ( a la UK) and clear a large area.
End of problem. We can do this…..without the Destroyer in Chief.

But you literally just did EXACTLY what I'm talking about: telling me to disprove you while you fail to back up what you say at all.
You'll tell people to prove you wrong until you're blue in the face but you never take a single step towards proving yourself right, and when you're the one making grandiose claims, it's on you to prove yourself right. What you do is the easy way out, and exactly what I expect of the worst debater on TigerNet.
The problem is you THINK you have credibility and therefore don't have to defend yourself, but the reality is nobody on here, red or blue, gives you a shred of it.

Freaking brilliant.
Right now the big problem's the runway. That's literally the only life raft the US/British/European civilians still have left, and the only one left to probably 50K Afghans that want to evacuate.
The Taliban can easily close those runways simply by just by shelling them with mortars. Then we've got a truly massive boondoggle because we've got less than 6K troops on the ground there at the airport and another 10K-15K civvies - and God alone knows how many left for our allies - stuck in the city, totally exposed, all easy meat for the Taliban.
So yeah, let's re-start a shooting war from a completely indefensible position with that much civilian hostage exposure, and see what happens. Great idea. I'm sure the Taliban will exercise restraint and not behead any American civilian they get ahold of.
Right now the best thing to do is a Mexican standoff. We need to get our civvies through. Their commanders, anyhow, are smart enough to know they really need us to go or it's another shooting war, which they will lose. It's strongly in their interest to ensure our noncombatants get out but I am worried as the end nears they'll probably start grabbing them for leverage.
I'd be surprised if Joe's presidency survives this, frankly. Like it or not, it's probably President Harris after this, folks, if our civilians don't make it out...and I suspect too many of them aren't going to unless the Taliban commanders can really restrain their troops, and irregular guerilla troops known for their savagery and beheading enemies alive are also not exactly known for their restraint.
But your suggestion of starting shooting from the ugly position we're in is...well, stupid. If it comes to that we've already lost.
This was a major boondoggle, probably a worse situation than the Iranian hostage crisis, and fair or no, Biden's going to own it. The big thing is: how many of our people are going to get out?
The longer we can forestall the shooting, the higher that number is likely to be. But I don't think it's going to be zero and we could see some truly awful stuff on the news coming our way the next couple weeks.
Unless Joe's diplomacy comes up straight aces, his presidency is done. And then hey, it's Kamala Harris time.
