Easter

Apr 3, 2021, 7:30 AM

What does it mean to you? And no this is not P&R, this is just fun talk and remembering.

My mom always had a ham and mac & cheese. We would all sit around the table and talk about our favorite things about our family. For some reason we always did Easter, primarily like after church, with my moms family.

We were never big into the Easter egg hunts, however, I can remember a few.

At church we always had a living cross. It was a cross covered with flowers. It was really cool. We would take pictures and hang out there after church. It was always a joyous time.

What are your Easter memories?

Easter and July 4th, are for some reason, tops on my list of favorite holidays. I like the message it brings and I like the fact that it brings promise that winter isn’t forever in MI.

When I was a kid on Sunday we went to church then when we got home we would have an Easter egg hunt with real eggs not those plastic ones they use now. After that my mom's side and my dad's side and both sets of grandparents would go to my great grandparent t house and have a massive meal.
Then we would have an even bigger Easter egg hunt with all my cousins.

We would almost always get up early and go to Rock Hill and go to my grandmother’s church (St John’s UMC) then to her house for a big lunch with all the local kin. If the weather was nice us kids would walk back to her house.

Our tradition was the Easter Bunny came while we were at church and the baskets were waiting on the front porch when we got back. I’ve got a picture around here some where of me with my spring crew cut and Easter seersucker suit (with short pants of course) showing my grandmother the chocolate bunny that was the center piece of my basket.
All us boy cousins would get in trouble for roughhousing in our good clothes.

It means He is risen. And it's spring. And the women walking across the Lake Murray ### will look hotter. Ham and lamb with mint jelly. Seeing family. All good stuff. Like Easter better than Christmas as I get older.
