Part of me takes that as a HUGE compliment to what we have going on here at Clemson and think we gotta give the guy a HUGE raise to keep him.
But another part of me wishes he gets the job and we go get a better coach who can beat the dang Coots.
What do ya'll think???????

That's easy! He's too old, too cantankerous, and not a very good coach anymore. But he would be in the mix before Dabo even gets a whiff of an offer from any other major program.

HE TRIED TO GET THE FLORIDA JOB BACK and they asked to submit a resume and told him he'd have to interview. The place he won championships at didn't want him back. USuc was the only place in the whole country with a history so bad, so desperate to win to give him a chance. No one's wanted him since. i never agreed with what the op said but mack brown won championships. it's a huge deal to force him out. tommy bowden was a blip to anyone outside clemson.
i agree with you about the right coach building something that can stand on its own legs.

Last I checked Tommy Bowden didn't have a National Championship a 4-1 BCS game record and 2 conference championships. I like Tommy but to try and compare him and Mack Brown is just stupid.

Mack Brown DID build his own legacy at Texas. He coached for 16 years, won a national championship, played for two, won several conference crowns, and won a bunch of games.
The Big 12/SWC/whatever they decide to call it is ripe for one team to lay the groundwork for an "Alabama-type" run and establish themselves as the dominant program. Certainly Oklahoma, OklahomaSt, KansasSt have not proven themselves ready to make that move.

Mack Brown winning there was a massive accomplishment that became recognized nationally.Second we are not accomplishing the goals Dabo himself sets for the program so why would anyone even consider him if he loses to South Carolina , gets blasted by FSU , hasnt won a BCS game and quite honestly lost his only opportunity in quite an embarrassing fashion. Dabo has it good here but I dont want him to ever get comfortable thats what got us 10 years of Tommy and we should never let that happen again. I can already see the writing on the wall , a certain segment of the fans are happy being 10-2 and we will always be 10-2 or worse as long as Dabo has his way. If Dabo wants to leave or has an opportunity to leave then good on him .

to be countered if it didn't get to that stage. why would it? i think he's happy with a top 15 program where only a limited number of jobs might be of interest. tejas might be one of those.
more importantly, it doesn't change the story from the dallas morning news including him as a potential candidate amongst a who's who list of others.

They can't seem to understand the success he has brought to the program. Correction, they don't even try to understand, and to many there is only 1 game that matters now. I wonder how happy they would be with a 5-5 season and a win over the coots. I think some would be just fine with that, until it really sunk in how foolish that is.

Y'all know if UTx made a call to Dabo he wouldn't even wait on a plane ticket...he'd take of running like Forrest Gump all the way to Austin. Heck, he'd probably even take a pay cut to get the asst coaches he wants there just like refusing a raise at CU for the same reason. You see, even I give the man credit for being a good salesman when it comes to selling himself. But we all know that wouldn't be the case. No sir...UTx has way deeper pockets than CU.
Ain't no shame in admitting which job is more prestigious.
But just so you all know, I truly hope his loyalty and commitment remain in Death Valley, S.C. for the sake of 40% of your fans and every single one of ours!

I can feel your pain for some many years of defeats, lack of bowl games, double digits win seasons, comference championship, BSC bowl games, or a NC. Sometimes we have to take what we can get at that time. Just live to try and be your rival for another year is good enough for me. Yes you can say we finally able to beat a good team at Clemson. A&M and Auburn just game their coaches million-plus raises and Alabama is about to do the same.
Texas' new coach will certainly make a million-plus more than Mack Brown.
This does not count the multi-millions spent on recruiting, S&C, and other program "administrators".
Dabo will likely get an interview, but I see him leveraging a better deal here for himself rather than packing up and moving.
We won't pay Texas or Alabama rock star money. Dabo's already taken less to get the right assistants here. He will use the Texas interview to bring his own compensation up to market level here.
We will finish top 10 with a bowl win. Dabo's earned it.

With the availability of talent at Texas and his ability to relate to today's players!!! After 1 season Dabo would have Texas right at the top of that conf. and the nation!!!! That only go on an official record book as a state champion in the high school league. A state champion have no bearing in the colleague record books. Just state bragging rights. Due to the number of win over the state rival, Clemson owns the football league in the state of SC. Just sharing a little of the wealth.
