E$ecPN at it again....this time with APR

Jun 6, 2013, 12:37 PM

Talking about Alabama as one of the 13 FBS schools to receive high honors.

"The Crimson Tide are now on a list that includes Northwestern, Stanford, and Duke..."

But not a single mention of Clemson making it for the 3rd year in a row. I can't wait until we beat UGA and SCAR next season. Down with E$ecPN!

They mentioned those 3 because they are very elite academic universities.

Jun 6, 2013, 12:40 PM

Very very hard to get into one of those schools

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So is Clemson you jacka$$***

Jun 6, 2013, 12:42 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson is a great school, but it is harder to get into

Jun 6, 2013, 12:44 PM

Stanford and Duke. Sorry for telling the truth.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

3 years in a row is the truth...***

scores, but it's an indicator that schools use.

What is the minority population at Clemson these days, 7%?

Jun 6, 2013, 4:06 PM

The fact that minorities generally score lower on standardized test scores has never produced a measureable impact on Clemson's averages.

Re: Clemson is a great school, but it is harder to get into

Jun 6, 2013, 2:22 PM [ in reply to Clemson is a great school, but it is harder to get into ]

Very true. Stanford, Duke, and Northwestern are pretty much on par with the Ivy Leagues (Stanford is an Ivy) and Clemson is in a group below that with the likes of U of Florida, Georgia Tech, U of Georgia, Southern Cal, etc.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ya. I didnt mean it as a slight to our school, but just to

Jun 6, 2013, 3:03 PM

recognize that those schools are on another level.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Correct, just like Clemson is on another level from USCheat***

Stanford isn't an Ivy, though it's certainly on the same academic level.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson is a good school, but Duke, Stanford, and NW

Jun 7, 2013, 9:44 AM [ in reply to So is Clemson you jacka$$*** ]

are world renowned institutions, and on the short list of the very best universities in the country. We really aren't even in the same league academically, and neither is Bama for that matter, despite the accomplishments of their football team in the classroom.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

they have won the national champ. a couple times lately

Jun 6, 2013, 12:46 PM

so it would seem like it's pretty notable that they're in that list.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They were talkin about successfull football teams on th list

Jun 6, 2013, 12:48 PM

Just thought Clemson would have been worthy of a mention, at least

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Alabama is not academically "elite"

Jun 6, 2013, 12:50 PM

Coming from an Alabama high school I can tell you they recruit students heavily. All the letter ls I reciee from UA either talked about how awesome the football was or implied how many parties I could go to. Most of the kids I knew that had track records for being the trouble makers and the almost drop outs went to Bama. Its easy as dirt to get in.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hmmm ... sounds like another state university in these parts***

Re: E$ecPN at it again....this time with APR

Jun 6, 2013, 12:53 PM

Well, it might be noted that all three of the schools mentioned there are private universities. High standards. High expense. Virtually all of the schools with the highest SAT's are private (not all). Clemson does pretty #### good considering this state doesn't give a #### about higher education.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Very good point.***

Did you know that South Carolina students [most do not graduate] have one thing CU students do not have. Of course, a rejection letter from CU.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

merely being academically eligible

Jun 6, 2013, 3:09 PM

isn't exactly something to write home about. especially considering the special treatment many football players get...

Re: E$ecPN at it again....this time with APR

Jun 6, 2013, 9:07 PM

Get over it - we are not Bama.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The story here is that Bama has won 3 of the last 4 national

Jun 7, 2013, 9:40 AM

titles AND is doing very well in the classroom. If Clemson had won a title or 3 in the last 4 years, we would get more attention for our APR. Likewise, if Bama was pre-Saban mediocre Bama, you wouldn't be hearing about their APR accomplishments right now either.
