DW4, TL, Hunter, DJ

Mar 16, 2019, 10:00 AM

I am pretty excited about DJ, but I am trying to calibrate myself. I do not watch a lot of HS highlights, and even if I did, I would struggle to gage QB skills because of the widely different levels of competition. So... I am appealing to the collective wisdom that can only be found on Tigernet; how does DJ compare to our recent highly touted recruits? And for funzies, how does he compare to whomever the next Chicken QB will be?

tough to gauge exactly, different situations for everyone but imo

TL is the best pure qb. DJ may be second best pure qb. But DW4 transcends pure quarterbackicity due to his ability to win and get those around him to rise up

DJ has all the physical tools of TL

But he’s still got stuff to work on to get to that level. I’d put him on Hunter’s level right now. DJ needs to hone in his throwing motion a little bit, which Streeter can easily fix in his rookie season. He also needs to improve on reading coverages and going through progressions. Right now he’s a little bit more first read and let it rip or roll out of the pocket.

His ceiling is as high as Trevor’s, but he’s not quite as polished as a high school senior.

Watching him on TV on Friday nights, he can make all the throws, has the ability to extend plays with scramble and big enough to get yardage with legs when needed. Saw him throw a nice deep ball and enough zip on the ball to throw to sideline. He can make the backshoulder throw and knows where to put the ball so that only his receiver can get to it.
But the best review for DJ is that Coach Streeter wants him.

You don’t see high school players with Trevor’s mental abilities Trevor was clocked at 67 mph the fastest ever at combine was 61 by Mahomes. DJ is huge and can throw the ball 90 yards flat footed. If DJ can process mentall. y anywhere near Trevor he will be unstoppable
