For those questioning if Morris is ready to be head coach...

Dec 3, 2012, 2:09 PM

Please enlighten me as to what credentials Dabo had when hired?

At least Morris knows Xs and Os and has been the highest paid coordinator in the country and has a hot shot offense with his name on it, oh wait he has been a head coach, while at the high school level but still more than Dabo.

Who would hire Dabo today? Maybe as a recruiting coordinator but Clemson is the only school giving him a head coaching shot.

Morris could go and should go while the getting is good. Should he suffer a lopsided loss to LSU possibly UGA to start next season, his high flying offense will be viewed as questionable. Some consider it the best thing going right now so in the business world he should take it while its available. Not sure he gets any of these jobs but let's don't stoop to the level of saying he isn't ready.

Agree. Good point about our losses against good teams.

Seems like that highly vaunted offense crashes down to earth when we face a good team. His stock might fall off dramatically if LSU shuts it down.

As I said before....

Dec 3, 2012, 2:19 PM

Dabo was a unique situation and a HUGE gamble for Clemson. Unlike Coach Morris, Dabo had an entire coaching staff already assembled. From there, he was able to pick and choose who he wanted to retain. Dabo also had an in-depth working knowledge of the program.

A big concern about hiring Morris as a HC would be his ability to find experienced assistant coaches willing to work for him.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

This is the one HUGE difference everybody wants to ignore.

Dec 3, 2012, 4:39 PM

Dabo already knew all the players and what they could and couldn't do.

He knew all the present staff and who he might want to keep and who needed to go.

He already had a third of a season under his belt and had gained the trust of the AD.

Chad Morris has none of these things.

Like Spurrier should leave before he falls dead in a well know sh_t hole.

Funny how you two clowns are so hoping Morris leaves

Dec 3, 2012, 2:22 PM

also those three can't afford to take a chance on a hire. They have to go proven. If you'd shut up and think about that, maybe you wouldn't look so stupid. But you are coots

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i think we know why clemson fans are questioning his

Dec 3, 2012, 2:23 PM

credentials....b/c we want his axe to stay here for as long as we can keep him. He'll be successful wherever he goes. Same with Dabo. He made something happen here at Clemson that he himself orchestrated. He may not strike you as a guy who can get it done by his resume but my man has put together a product that is gaining momentum every year. He's got a couple of Monkey's on his back still but who doesn't. Bottom line, Chad Morris will be a good hire for someone we just hope it's in a couple of years instead of this year. We've got a pretty good crop of talent coming back next year and if we can get some congruence on Defense next year we should be good to go for another ACC Championship.

Dabo is a CEO and will go hire another great OC***

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

dabo was hired from within; his resume was built everyday

Dec 3, 2012, 2:25 PM

he interacted with the university, tdp, staff, aarc, being named asst hc when bammer came calling...

i'm not defending dabo or his hiring, just pointing out a huge difference in the 2 situations.

However the converse is also true....

Dec 3, 2012, 2:26 PM

beating LSU and Georgia would bring Morris' stock up considerably. We know you ##### want him to leave... and he will, but on his timetable, not yours.

Great point about Dabo and the situation. Dabo under any other circumstances would have never been hired by Clemson which is why I think he is never hired as a head coach anywhere else unless the ACC gets better and he has a chacne to prove himself.

I thought Clemson would go for heavy hitter but took a chance and with a weak ACC and bringing in Morris, he has by far exceeded expectations!!!! 10 plus wins and ACC title etc, he has got some backing now.

Funny how a factual comment about Morris from a Clemson MBA grad is turned into a coot. Some of you fans are funny. Ever thought with a billion people in the world some of us may have a differnce of opinion and still be on the same side???

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're not deemed a coot for this single post

Dec 3, 2012, 2:28 PM

but are for your constant negative crap post about the team and Dabo

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and your handle is kickincoot...

Dec 3, 2012, 2:30 PM

and where did you say that undergrad degree was from?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Love Morris as much as the next guy, but he's got

Dec 3, 2012, 2:27 PM

to prove he can get through an entire game against a GOOD team without wetting his pants and completely getting away from the game plan.

Tell me what was so different between NCSt and the Coots? Yes I know talent, but we were down almost double to NCSt than we ever were at one time to the coots, and we kept running the ball and did so to the tune of 38 unanswered points.

We face a team with a great defense and at the first sign of trouble he completely abandons the running game. Not to mention he got away from what has worked all year. Jet/Fly sweeps, WR screens, etc.. Why? It's like he has a brain freeze at the first sign of trouble against a good team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think you absolutely have to question if he is ready

Dec 3, 2012, 2:28 PM

especially if you are hiring him to call plays as well as head coach. As bad as our defense has been this year you need to take a very close look at the USC game for the topic here.
I don't think there was a person on here that thought we could hand with the coots if the game came down to defense. What EVERYBODY thought was that we would blow them off the field offensively. Well...didn't happen. As a matter of fact this very board continues to question the play calling.
I think Morris has the goods to make a great HC one day. But if I am a BCS program looking for a bona fide answer to my schools success I have serious reservations about Morris UNTIL I see consistent results in BIG games.
JMO.

Bryant et al,

I have less than 100 posts but have been here what 7 or 8 years, I usually read only to get a feel for what others think. I have zero negative posts and brought up a simple questions about Morris' credentials vs Dabo's

A few others brought up the great posts about the situation and Dabo having a hand in the huge recruiting success, knowing the program etc which set him apart from this situation with Morris. that shows factually, it isn't right to compare his credentials to Morris' due to the situation at Clemson at the time.

All of that was accomplished without name calling etc. Thanks to the educated posters offering insight rather than simple minded name calling to a fellow fan with whom they disagree. I see your number of posts and can only imagine what you do for a living taht gives you all the extra time to post stupidity.

There is so much more than X and O's hwne you become a head coach, plus most head coaches do not call their own offense. With recruiting, being a dad to almost each player, fund raising, yes...you need to suck up to every booster possible and finding other assistant coaches. I feel it would be in Chad Morris benefit to hang in there for two more years. He will obtain a better grasp of the responsibilities of a head coach, make more in roads to other coaches that he can hire, become more involved in recruiting and let his family settle down for a few years before moving again. For him to take such a high level job at this time and not produce could put an end tio his career.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dude, you are a USC undergrad with the handle...

Sources tell me that #Clemson OC Chad Morris is not interested in the head coaching job at Auburn. Sources tell me that #Clemson OC Chad Morris is not interested in the head coaching job at Auburn.

He also said he had a text message from Morris that said I am in Clemson today and not in Auburn
