Driving to work this morning

Nov 28, 2022, 8:42 AM

It’s 53 degrees and not a cloud in the sky this morning. I saw 2 deer running through a field and a turkey in full strut in another. It is also starting to set in that I have 20 more working days and then I’m retiring. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our kids and grandkids which is even more special for me because most of my career I worked on every holiday except Christmas Day. And other than the game itself, we had a great time in Clemson Saturday as usual. Yes, the sun came up in Clemson today.

I think it’s safe to say all of us on here are disappointed and/or pizzed off to some degree about where our football season and program are right now. Do yourself a favor and find something good today. It’s out there.

Nice. Congrats on retiring. Was blessed to be able to do the same September a year ago when I should still have a little gas left in the tank (turned 62 this summer). Haven't looked back. ?

Thank you. I will be 60 in January so I feel very fortunate to get out a little early while I still have my health. My dad had to retire due to health issues and never got a chance to enjoy himself. All he ever wanted to do was retire and fish and he couldn’t even fish without help. I was about 20 when he was forced to retire and had just turned 26 when he passed and it has been a lifelong goal for me to try to retire healthy and enjoy myself and my family. The grandkids are 4 and 1 and I don’t want to miss a minute with them.

Good call. I retired last Jan at 52. Great decision after a tragic 5 years…life is too short to work until you can’t enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Good luck!

Life is abundantly good everywhere with a positive approach (even losing by 1 to Birds) which you graciously have and have earned..

and glad you are closing down one rewarding phase of life successively and able to go onto another phase that includes unlimited opportunities filled with great memories, family, friends & Clemson.

Go TiGERs!

Thanks, LBB. Looking forward to maybe getting a small boat like yours or a pontoon and spending a lot of time on Lake Hartwell.

Been retired for 5+ years and don't regret it for one minute.

I can’t wait. You could say I’ve been working on this my whole life! I never worked a Monday - Friday, 9-5 job. I worked in food and dairy manufacturing plants and most of our plants operate 24/7. I probably averaged somewhere around 55 hours a week for most of my career and many times it was more. As a Plant Manager I was expected to be available 24/7 and that got a lot more demanding once we got email and cell phones. It was hard work but it provided a stable, comfortable life for us and the opportunity to retire a little earlier than most. I am truly blessed.

Congraturations on your upcoming retirement. Just remember,

Nov 28, 2022, 10:38 AM

every day is Saturday, EXCEPT Sunday. Make time for the Lord every day, but especially on Sunday.

Do that, and you will enjoy a long and happy retirement, one way or the other.

:)
