I'm in Atlanta and need to get a few Pitt tickets to a friend in SC. Anyone know if there is a way to transfer your tickets electronically?

Theoretically, you could send them a picture

of each ticket that they can print out. The barcode is the important thing.
Alternatively, if you are an IPTAY member you can email your tickets to someone via the IPTAY site.

but it didn't cost anything.
The person was able to pick the tickets up at the 'will call' window.

If you don't want to pay the $5 transfer fee. You should be able to choose the "Reissue" option above that, and then email them to the person.
These two options are contingent on those being your season tickets. If you purchased individual tickets through IPTAY, or secondhand tickets, then you won't be able to transfer them this way.
