Wife's grandfather, to whom she is very close, was an exceptionally healthy man, a young 70, until a week ago. Found out today he has advanced, likely terminal cancer.
I'm feeling a little inadequate in the situation, because I have honestly never lost someone I was really close to. (My extended family, for whatever reason, just aren't as tight as most people's.)
We will be OK, because we know that whatever time we will have without him will be dwarfed by the time we will have with him again.
Pray for comfort for him in what may be his last few months or so in this world, and for his family, as they deal with this pretty sudden situation.

My wife's great-grandmother (this grandfather's mother-in-law) got a very similar type of cancer and died relatively quickly. But she was not as young or as in good health, and there's another level of closeness here.

I've lost both parents in the last year. I miss them dearly. Tears. I can't ever see them or hear their wisdom now.
