ah, economic stability. It's a wonderful thing. Too bad no one will give Nancy, Chuck & Brandon the credit they are due.
Whatever, I've got work to do, so I probably won't see your snarky, mean-spirited posts flaming out on an old man with one foot in the grave.

I was expecting there to be a lot more doom and gloom.

There are a couple of reasons why I strongly dislike
Nov 5, 2021, 1:56 PM
|
|
that this is always, always framed in a political manner.
1. This is about the well-being of people in our country. Because it's framed politically, you always have people who almost seem to be upset if there's a positive report, or glad if there's a negative report.
2. It always seems to me that gross economic trends are largely out of the control of the President. There's always something much bigger at play than who's sitting at Resolute.

politics and the economy are like bread and butter

but I agree, it's always overstated no matter whose in power.
I would suggest that stability can be a bi-product of the political class actually getting things done, or rather, not terribly screwing them up.
So I don't think in this case it is unfair to mildly credit the people who are leading the way. I don't like a lot of the stuff these cats do, but I'm thankful that the predicted economic apocalypse isn't on the horizon.

It seems like Congress has more of an impact

than the President, for what effect our leaders do have. For example, if numbers are influenced by extra unemployment benefits, then Congress did that. They tax, they spend, etc.
Anyway, something like COVID is so completely dominant, that it dwarfs any short-term impact of political leaders.

No rioting or insurrections either. We just have some Trump supporters waiting for JFK jr to magically comeback to life. That's nuts, but pretty harmless. Things are kind of quiet. Wonder what's brewing out there?

Amazing how fewer people riot when no one is paying them. Ask Sinema and Manchin how their week was, though.

Why are dems pushing the $Bazillion welfare bill if the economy is wonderful? Something does not add up.

They think people need more. It's pretty simple. They have a huge list of things that they think will help society. Paid leave, day care I believe, early school small children, infrastructure, climate stuff, etc. I forget all they think society needs.

Thank you for not being able to pass any of your economy destroying legislation (those EO's had a big impact on inflation though).
Now we can see how great the Trump economy was without the COVID hysteria.
Or maybe I should thank Manchin?
