Don Munson, I know you read this site...

Sep 1, 2014, 9:04 AM

I have two complaints and one is huge.

1. You don't have to say, "Let's call it" every time before you tell us where they spot the ball. Third and lets call it 4. Let's call it a 2 yard gain.

2. This is the biggie. Stop acting so freaking excited every time the opposition makes a play. I drove down to Death Valley and watched the first half. On the way home I listened to the radio play call of the 2nd half. If I didn't know better I would have sworn I was listening to a UGA station. It was awful.

You always knew where the ball was with Jim! On your radio dial from left to right Clemson has the ball on the 30. Fuller takes it from center going to the right he fakes to the FB and pitching to the tail back.

Did you ever listening to JIM ? You didn't need TV

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

His health wasn't in decline, and josephg exagerates

Sep 1, 2014, 9:37 AM [ in reply to 'ey! Jim P was running on fumes his last few years ]

a good bit. At 69 he clearly was not as good as he was 10 years earlier, few are. Was still better than most

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Jim had the best voice and will always be my announcer

Sep 1, 2014, 9:48 AM [ in reply to At least he let's you know where the ball is and how far to ]

But he was guilty of that charge. It was a tiny flaw that was easy to overlook considering what else he brought to the table

Clemson Football, the glory days are here!

I'd give anything to have Jim back! And I never really

noticed that or had any complaints whatsoever.

he did not improve in baseball after all these years. I only listened some this week end just to see how he did. He gets waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too excited when the other team does good. So many times in baseball I thought we had made a fantastic play when in fact it was the other team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sep 1, 2014, 9:40 AM

Some of you people will ##### about anything. Here's an idea, go to the game. If not, just be happy you live in the tech era which allows you to watch it on TV, ESPN updates on your phone, and yes, radio if need be.

Sep 1, 2014, 3:02 PM

Home game for over 20 years. I drove over 2 hours to DV to watch the game on the jumbo. Only left at half time because of a sick family member.

None of that stops me from wanting to listen to a quality radio broadcast from time to time. Munson Sat night was not quality because of the reasons I listed.

If you have something to add about the broadcast, speak up. Otherwise STHU.

Sep 1, 2014, 3:33 PM

Monson is the worst announcer in my lifetime. Williams did good I thought. But Monson sucked was just dreadful. You don't have to be a homer , but you still must know who you're calling the game for. If it doesn't get better, radio will not be an option for me. I mean did they not do some simulated games , and someone NOT tell him that crap sucked? Who signed off on that? And someon else was right , made Todd Ellis sound like jack buck !!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I listened to the first drive on the radio

Sep 1, 2014, 9:41 AM

And felt bad for you guys. He made Todd Ellis sound professional...

Sep 1, 2014, 12:24 PM

burned me up too. Its OK to be a homer when you are calling games for the Clemson network. No need to be neutral like you are working for a national network. Even my coot family members said they thought Ellis was bad until they listened Sat night.

No sure I agree with being the homer

Sep 1, 2014, 4:04 PM

Jim P hardly ever said "We" or "Our" when referring to Clemson. I do not agree that he was in any may a "homer". He was truly a professional. As for Todd and company, they sound like H.S. football announcers, completely and utterly biased. I hate that.

Todd has a huge problem conveying what has happened on the field. He tries to add color before telling you the result of the play. I don't care (at that moment) what kind of move, or block or defensive effort some player made. I want to know if the pass was complete or not, and on what yard line he was tackled on. After that, talk about whatever you want.

Now, I didn't hear any of Munson's broadcast on Saturday. But I pray he wasn't a homer like Todd and Tommy. Those two are horrendous. Makes it nearly impossible for a non-cock-lover to listen to game.

I know a lot of you are too young to ever had heard Larry Munson from GA he was the biggest Ga lover (homer) ever but he was such a good play by play guy that as a CU guy I would listen to him every week and I hate GA. Pull him up one day and listen it was so sweet.
