Willie Taggart at Clemson

|
As most know, New HC of The Oregon ducks Football Team - Willie Taggart was at Spring Scrimmage today. IMO, I think Taggart is going to be a good HC. He has taken the blow of having to let go of one of his assistants that He carried with him due to off-field issues. Coach Dungy vouched for Him in the move. Now, He is at Clemson wanting to learn from the best.
To me, Taggart measures up to character. Maybe Giving Dabo a call knowing that He is a great supporter of talented new HC's, I'm sure He was delighted to have Taggart along to see what has made the Clemson brand. Who knows how it got started. It's a humble move by Taggart to either accept or request the visit, but it shows that He is wanting to learn from the best. Taggart isn't out there talking about satellite camps, etc. He recognizes consistency in the Clemson Football program and that is what He is going to be about coaching Oregon. Who knows, we may be playing them in the CFP sooner rather than later. . Great people learn from other great people. You attract what you respect.

give him credit for going to the champ, not much else. How smart you gotta be to try to learn from the trophy holder?

I think a lot of coaches are taking notice of what Dabo/Clemson is doing in recruiting. We are on the cutting edge boys, IF YOU DIDNT KNOW IT YET

EOTIGER, You're right. We are at a good place in recruiting, facilities, coaches, the full game. National Champs. I think there is part of Taggart that is like any other coach- wanting to see the " trophy winner" , I think though, it was more about the personal visit to Clemson. Shows Taggart wants a model to pattern after. He and his team flew all the way across the country to meet Dabo, see the facilities, programs and players.
Other coaches: Meyer: Has given respect to Clemson years back, however his last comment was " we don't lose like this, and we're not going to get used to it". Or Booms' famous, never again. These coaches never really gave honor were honor was due. Taggart has just by his visit IMO, and it was more about seeing the entire package of the culture, like I said, great people learn from other greats. Taggart strikes me as an innovative, smart and hungry coach. Where else to find common ground, than Clemson University and the National Championship Football Program.

just lost to Clemson, it's that they lost 31-0. They got shut out and embarrassed on the biggest stage in CFB. That's not supposed to happen to them against anyone.

Why do you think you see OSU offer a kid a day or two AFTER Dabo and staff have offered. They follow Clemson recruiting because the staff is excellent at scouting and talent evaluation.

Most of the country knows about us. Only ESPN and Ohio State fans are the only ones who still don't get it.

He did a great job at USF, and was largely out of the spotlight for it. I don't know how USF stayed out of the top 25 all season.
Can we ask Taggart if we can borrow their basketball coaches once the final four is over?

Ding! Ding! Ding! Don't be surprised if Scott Pagano is an Oregon Duck. Dabo never ceases to amaze me. Invites the guy in and sells him on taking a key contributor to his defense the last two years. That my friend is class.

The opposing coaches know how good we are in football. Welcome Oregon coaches to the home of the national champions and good luck to your basketball team . I hope they beat UNC.

Would be interesting to have David Hood interview him and get his thoughts about the visit.

Agreed. I'm sure Hood will write something about it, so will the Oregon NP. Board High jacked my thread on an up and coming " good character " coach. Dexter Lawrence, Dabo letting our secret out.. C'mon man, you know Dabo is smarter than that. Gives him a glimpse of the facility and what our players look like. Nothing He can't see on the internet.. He wanted to meet the man, see the culture, not try to take any of these ALL IN players that play for Dabo & CU. LOL. Even if He did, we still too deep. Taggart wont be the last coach to come and sit and talk with Swinney. It was just about Taggart be a pretty good guy from a values standpoint, character, and the willingness to learn from a blue collar Alabama guy who had to work himself up the chain as a player, coach, etc. as Taggart is now.
