For years I have been stuffing a tube sock…

with hair and hanging it in my flower garden to keep out the deer. That seems to be less effective this year. Does anyone else have any tricks they use?

Go Clemson.

Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

Try stuffing a Mountain Lion in a tube sock. Theoretically it should be highly effective.

Marigolds sometimes will work I’m told. I’m trying that for the first time this year. Deer are especially fond of Hostas..
They eat every one of mine in just a few nights.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: For years I have been stuffing a tube sock…

Jun 16, 2021, 4:20 PM

The deer have been eating only the flower stems from our hostas. Our deer must have a refined palate, that's all they eat, and only just as the buds start to open out. The wife is ready for some venison.

our neighbor had luck lining his garden with left over vinyl siding. Evidently it makes them lose their footing. Not the most attractive solution.

Good luck and let us know if anything works.

Wow….you need bigger game!!!

However, you can dice up some garlic cloves, add cayenne pepper, milk, a few eggs and some dish detergent. Put in a spray bottle. The garlic needs to be diced fine to get through the spray tube.
Of course you’re experienced with clogging up small passageways!

Try "Deer-B-Gone". (That may not be the correct spelling) My daughter uses it. But she has to spray at about 27 day intervals on Hosta. Deer seem to prefer the small leaf Hosta over the large leaf varieties.

Deer hate onion so plant flowers in that family like allium. In fact they seem to dislike strong scented flowers in general. All men visiting your yard should be required to tinkle around the garden.
