Security would be racist. You have to let the people get what they need. If they kill a few people along the way, so be it.

It's becoming a huge problem...and guess what, the Republicans certainly have no answer for it either. They'll want to crack down because their answer is always "Crack down harder. Grr. Growl. Me big and tough." But aggressive policing now produces rioting because the cops have spent decades digging in and will not subject themselves to accountability, and probably never will...and so the cops have pulled back, which in turn produces rampant crime.

It's out of control in retail. My wife is a retail GM. She's been telling me about some crazy stuff, and it's only getting worse.

It is not sustainable.

So, owing to the police profession's utter refusal to hold themselves to account, we can't police...and because crime is spiking, we also can't not police. Interesting quandary. The obvious answer is a technical fix - membership cards. Basically we're all soon going to have to get membership cards from everything to our local CVS to Wal-Mart to the ones that already have them like Sam's and CostCo. You get scanned in at the door, and if you do something sketchy like steal, your card is revoked.

This is going to produce even bigger divisions between the rich and poor, of course, but that's just how it always goes. But people can't control themselves...which means businesses are going to have to protect themselves.

I also think we're going to see a re-thinking in how commercial space is built. I think the strip malls are going to go away, and we're going to see more gated complexes (that again, require a membership card to enter), and have a limited number of entrances and exits that can be easily controlled.

Also, owing to Amazon, there's going to be increasingly fewer of those retail spaces anyway. Brick and mortar establishments are getting Amazon'd to oblivion right now.

The world always changes, whether anybody likes it or not.

Amazon currently is primarily 'to-the-door' delivery. Mutha

This. And agreed. It isn’t like the right has an answer for it either.

People on this board still think George Floyd’s death was an accident so how do you ever hold police accountable if you don’t believe a convicted policeman was in the wrong?
