Does anybody seriously think fossil fuels are going to go

May 11, 2022, 10:32 AM

away anytime soon?

Consider that the cost of a futile climate change policy will destroy many global economies (including ours) and cost hundreds of thousands of lives!!

Is America dumb enough? I hope not.

Biden (I mean his handlers) do, and he’s willing to destroy the country for that belief.

This country is full of true fools that really think fossil fuels are going away in the next 10 years.

If there is stronger evidence about the decline of the American educational system, then that will be even scarier.

who says fossil fuels are going away in the next ten years, I have not heard anyone credible make that prediction. By 2035, most car manufacturers will completely phase out gas powered cars, that is a fact. We will still have coal and natural gas power plants for the foreseeable future.

We gotta figure out thorium fission. China and the Dutch are, with our technology...and of course, we're sitting on our hands not using it.

Dang. Fusion reactors. Shoulda started up in the '80s.

Nice to see we can find common ground on something.

You just triggered them with the electric car prediction. LOL.

Well..they are saying that..now.

Norway is the "fastest" country to pledge going to go to all electric cars. They say they won't allow fossil fuel powered cars to be sold new by 2025. But Norway is a lot smaller than the US, and a lot different country. Norway is about the same size as California..with about 6x fewer people than California.

And it's not 2025 yet, either. We'll see what happens.

A lot of car companies are pledging to sell only electric by 2035; I think it's yet to be seen what is actually practical. IMO, we're in a pretty large gap already between what cars and trucks most people can afford vs what they can buy. Electric cars don't seem to be changing that.

IMO, the way electric cars are currently manufactured, with the long term battery issues/costs of replacement, and how electric cars and built with the batteries as a structural member of the car, combined with the infrastructure issues of recharging...electric cars could become the GM converted diesel of the early 80's. Let's say in 10 years we are able to manufacture fuel cells or can break hydrogen free from water easily, electric cars will instantly be an automobile side note in history.

And until we get to a point the a dead battery doesn't total my car, nobody will be buying them en masse.

America is not dumb enough,

I hate to bury this in a Miura thread

b/c it probably won't get read, but a finance buddy had a 2 part newsletter on green energy and its impact to the markets.

His theory is that Nat Gas is the premier alternative until we can build up Nuclear to augment the energy demand currently supplied by fossil fuels. I wasn't aware of the properties of Nat Gas that were superior to coal, but based on my mid-tier knowledge of chemistry, it makes perfect sense.

HOWEVER.

He threw out a ####### gold quote...after going on a rant about the ridiculousness of current environmental policies, here's what he said:
But yeah, carbon taxes that exempt the rich and energy policies that lead to failing power grids (and, in the case of California, outlaw even private generators for emergency power!), higher energy costs, and rampant inflationary pressures seem like they could work, too. Let's find out - after all, shutting down the economy worked out so well for "zero-Covid", let's just run it back for "zero-carbon".

I spit out my coffee when I read that. Run this ##### back baby, Zero Covid was such a reaming success lolololololololol

Anybody ever stopped to wonder...

May 12, 2022, 2:50 PM

After we wipe ourselves out and a new species sprouts up millions of years from now, are they gonna use our fossil fuels we produce to power their machines? That would be awesome.
