Mark Packers dad Billy used to announce them. They would film an entire series in a weekend. Then put on TV later a few matches at a time. Mark was a teenager at the time and he saw who won weeks before it aired. He would bet all his golf buddies who would win and raked it up. This was well before ibternet and cell phones.

miniature golf. No volcanos or gimmicky waterfalls on a Putt-Putt course, but rather well designed, well maintained holes that relied on skill rather than luck like most miniature golf courses did. The family that owned the Putt-Putt in Greenville had two boys about my age, and I grew up with them. They worked at and eventually ran it, and they used to show me exactly where to hit the ball on every hole. Their uncle was the first PPA National Champion in 1960, and was the leading money winner for much of the 1960s. I had a lot of fun there as a kid, but haven't seen a real Putt-Putt course in years.

Around 1970 or so, my mom would drop off a buddy and me at Putt Putt in Cayce, SC on Thursday morning. We would each pay $2.00 and could play all day. My mom would pick us up on her way home from work.
