Just posted: Cervenka won his 4th straight state championship. The only wrestler to ever accomplish this in the heavyweight division in S.C. history. Congrats Gage!

Boys like Grady Jarrett, Cervenka, former player Tig Willardand on and on attribute their football skills (ie tackling, lateral movement, hand fighting skills) to their days as wrestlers.
Dabo, Venables, Caldwell have all said that they would prefer a kid who has wrestled because of the aforementioned reasons, not to mention the sheer discipline that comes from the sport.
Besides, Clemson could free up a couple schollys for athletes who chose to compete as Heavyweights for the Wrestling team in Jan, Feb, and March after the Football season was over. That's how it worked when we were in school back in the 80s.
