Do we think QB play will improve next season?

Cade arrived in Jan and has yet to pass DJ on the depth chart. Cade is no longer a freshman at this point.
Are we thinking that Cade magically improves over spring practice? Or are we banking on true frosh Vizzina?
Do we need to get someone out of the transfer portal? Maybe check in on Cunningham at Louisville and see if he's happy?
What are your thoughts?

Cade is a true freshman, IMHO he will come out of spring practice as the starter. He has shown flashes of being very good, I think he is still getting used to the speed of the college game.

Sure he's a freshman

he plays the most difficult position on the field with tons to learn, grasp and apply. Joe Burrow must have been a doofus to not have things click until his senior year. You remember Fuller's first 2 years?

I trust Cade's performance in Texas 6A ball and #1 grade at Elite 11 much more than I do the stacked deck and limited opportunities presented to him upon arrival at Clemson. IMHO Cade should establish if DJ is returning, and if so, leave Clemson after the ACCCG and exams. This sets him up to compete at his new school and learn playbook in the Spring. If DJ returns, more of the same.
And it's not all on DJ, but conservative and untrusting coaching and play calls tell us most of it is about DJ.

Imo I think our offense goes back to normal because Cades speed will open up a lot of other areas

As I postulated in an earlier post, I expect Dabo will have an honest, frank conversation with DJ about next year.
I think Dabo’s message will be that the QB position will be a competition as it is every year and that the offensive scheme in which that competition takes place will be different than it has been.
Based on comparative advantages alone, that improves Cade’s chances and makes it more difficult for DJ to win that competition.

If DJ comes back he will be QB1 and we will go through another year with the same issues. Cade will transfer in January after the Bowl game if not before.

I'm telling anyone who will hear me out. A lot of what's happening isn't "just the QB position". When you see less talented teams play teams; even if that team is more talented by star rating on defense, you see their receiver come "WIDE-Open"! Which speaks to how they are taught - "to get open"! It's not just be fast - b/c that DB is fast also. In college, you don't always enjoy the obvious mis-match. So, you have to rely on disciplined route running to get open. You have to rely on your OL to create passing lanes. It's more complicated than just - can the QB pass it.
I anticipate we will get better at QB to answer the question. B/C I am hoping/praying the WR room is addressed.
Look at Wake and tell me how many 4 or 5-star WR's they have? Yet, they routinely got open. How many yards did Hartman have. Our defense by Star rating is probably 4-star average. Their offense at best is 3-sar average. The way the offense is run and schemed and constructed(structured) is such - those WR's came wide open. The folks around the QB have a lot to say - in how good that QB looks!

Not unless playcalling becomes more imaginative and we find some dudes on the outside who can make plays.

If Cade is the starter before the season starts, yes.

I think between Cade and Vizzinia we are in good shape. There is no guarantee, but I wouldn't be checking the portal, especially at QB.
