DO NOT FIX THE ROCK!!

Jun 14, 2013, 12:37 AM

I love Clemson. I love everything about it. Howard's Rock is a part of that for sure. What I loved about touching that rock was thinking of all the other players, coaches, Clemson fans, and even visiting teams fans have touched it. The oil from peoples hands smoothing out the rough edges over the decades. It made me feel like all that history was bound together.. not just the players, but parents and their kids, then those kids grown up bringing their own children to touch it. For lack of something better to say, it is a tangible piece of Clemson history that is just cool. Its not just football, its Clemson.

Don't fix the rock. No laminate, no glue. Let the rock continue to be reformed by our current and great players, staff, and Clemson families to come over the next decades. That's what I hope for anyway.

Go Tigers!!

Amen. After a few more years of players, coaches, and fans touching the rock it won't be jagged and rough looking anymore. It will look fine. It's Howard's Rock, and it shouldn't be fixed with anything unless they're the original pieces.

I understand your pov, but I disagree.

I believe if we were to recover the chunk missing we should try and fix it.

Mixed emotions here

Jun 14, 2013, 5:38 AM

Part of me wants to recover the missing piece and have it repaired.

The other side, says leave it as it lies. It is STILL THERE as a solid symbol of greatness despite the pathetic attempt by a fool to destroy it.

I have touched it many many times, and other than the very first time over 20 years ago, the next time I touch it....Aug 31st, will be a very special moment for me!!

Leave it be, so when our Tigers stand atop that hill on a warm August night and once again rub it before taking off down the hill, 80,000+ can ROAR in reverance to a Clemson Icon that has stood the test of time!!!

The ROCK.....IS STILL THERE!!!!!

Go Tigers!!!!

Leave it be. When our players look down it just might
put more fire in their bellies.

When the piece has been returned, take it to the away
games. Rub it for more fire.

Welcome to T-Net. I couldn't agree any more with your

first post- why did it take almost 2 years? But be forewarned - it takes only one post to get you converted from a 100% pulse to being called a "coot".

Love the idea. You didn't take from us. You gave something

Jun 14, 2013, 10:42 AM [ in reply to Re: Mixed emotions here ]

To us.

I'm fine with leaving it as is, but we have to protect it

Jun 14, 2013, 6:51 AM

better going forward. An incident like this is something people will still talk about years and years from now, but unless we take better steps to protect it, there might not be a rock at all at that point.

I agree don't fix it...but if they recover the piece, they should take that piece on the road and rub it before away games.

I like this idea! Hope we find it though.***

Leave it JUST AS IT SITS!!

It has now become more beloved and symbolic than ever!!

That filthy Rat B###### may have damaged it's outward appearance, but will NEVER take way the indomnible spirit that it proudly embodies!!

That beloved ROCK has now become more meaningful than ever before!

Aug 31st is going to be EPIC and Death Valley will be ROARING when our Tigers take to the rock/Hill.

Go Tigers!!!!!

We didn't fix it in 1992, shouldn't fix it now

Jun 14, 2013, 10:55 AM

The rock should wear its battle scars with pride, let the missing chunk stay missing, and mock those who tried to destroy it saying "Is that all you've got? I'm still here"
