TNET: Simple tweet causes Texas A&M player to go after Brent Venables on Twitter

Simple tweet causes Texas A&M player to go after Brent Venables on Twitter

A simple recruiting tweet turned into a war of words as a Texas A&M football player fired the first salvo in anticipation of Clemson’s matchup in College Station on September 8.

A Clemson coach responded

I'm hoping I add the link to the tweet correctly.

Thank you for that tweet from the coach. Lol it’s a really funny but legit comparison. I wonder what Amari tweeted

I was wondering the same thing. I’m guessing it had something to do with ATM’s defense if he took it down.

Jul 2, 2018, 7:20 PM

Yeah, you’re probably right. Our players need to take the high road and not give them bulletin board material. It’s already a tough environment we don’t need to fire up that team or the 100,000 drunk rowdy Texans.

Jul 2, 2018, 9:40 PM

Some Texans have class and like the Longhorns, the others are Aggys or Red Raiders.

If you do a flyover of their football field at Aggyland, it looks like a fishing tackle box. But, instead of lures, it's filled with idiots.

Re: A Clemson coach responded

Jul 2, 2018, 10:06 PM

Now that’s funny. You are sorely mistaken if you believe texas has class. They have “class” in many of the same ways that the coots have “class”.

Much of their student body wears ties to the game

You might think you were at a BYU game, it's not a drunk rowdy crowd. It's a different kind of place.

I saw the tweet before amari deleted it. May be off a word or 2 but it said something along the lines of “Just stay in college station and worry about us September 8th”

Nice job on posting the tweet but if you read the article, you will see that DHood already included it.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

At least we know why he chose TA&M

Jul 2, 2018, 9:21 PM

With that logic, he would fail Orientation at Clemson.

I’ve got even money says Jimbo will ensure he has at least a 3.5.

Re: At least we know why he chose TA&M

Sounds like he has sour grapes already. Too late now. Perhaps he’s smart enough to realize he blew it by not choosing Clemson. He is so worried about the game he’s already trying to get into players heads. Too bad we’re way too smart for that. Go Tigers!

Everything said here is true. Shots fired from the ######## O’Neill. Good B.B. material and all that but I have one question.

Sounds like tnet staff should have never tweeted something like that from a potential recruit. Seems like something that other site tci would do.

Could have simply said Dean had nice things to say about Clemson. We don’t always need a story. Sorry Mr Hood, love your stuff, and y’all do a wonderful job... but imho this was not something tnet should have tweeted.

I agree. To tweet something that a reecruit says that coach V told him or promised him... Not sure how that works to our benefit.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Simple tweet causes Texas A&M player to go after Brent Venables on Twitter

Jul 3, 2018, 12:09 AM

Perhaps I'm wrong, but the guy who posted the tweet was not the recruit we were after, but one we used to be after, but he chose to go to Texas A&M and not us. We dropped his offer because we didn't feel he quite fit the program, and we had better options. I bless DH for posting the tweet, as it had NOTHING to do with our recruits - past, present, or future - but simply let them all know how great an opportunity it would/will be to play for Clemson and be a gentleman who needs no introduction for the rest of his life.

GO TIGERS!!!!!

TNet quoted a current recruit at the Opening Finals

Jul 3, 2018, 12:46 PM [ in reply to Re: TNET: Simple tweet causes Texas A&M player to go after Brent Venables on Twitter ]

that BV promised to dial up a blitz on the first play of the game (assuming said recruit would choose to be a Tiger). the former recruit (O'Neal) tweeted that BV was lying because he had promised him the same thing when he was being recruited, and then our team members responded to O'Neal, etc... etc...

Jul 2, 2018, 10:59 PM

it's much better that you didn't get the kid coming to your program. What a jerk . and not bright. We are much better off without him. That's two we found out we escaped from recently. Good for us.

Jul 2, 2018, 11:34 PM

O’Neal is obviously immature and good thing we don’t have him. However, I live in TX and have many Aggie friends and they are full of class. Their FB passion and genuineness will remind you of Clemson. I assure you.
This whole thing is much more a statement of Jimbo’s culture he grows amongst his players than anything else. That’s all. We’ve all seen it before, haven’t we?
Too bad for Aggie Land. History will show that they will be much lighter in the pocket book with nothing to show for it. What a bad hire...

coach was demanding w/ the quality of the coach. Jimbo Fisher is the biggest coaching fraud since Mac Brown, except Brown kept his players in line for the most part. It baffles me how Fisher was able to sweep his player troubles and the fact the players quit on him under the rug and aTm went for it. They could've had Chad Morris for much less money and the culture would've been the antithesis of what they're about to have.

They were desperate to get a 'name' coach. Well, you got one. Enjoy the drama.

I'm glad our leaders on the team are taking note. I made the predictions of 34-14 the other day I'm now starting to doubt it's that close. Our team will be locked in all summer.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: TNET: Simple tweet causes Texas A&M player to go after Brent Venables on Twitter

Jul 3, 2018, 8:16 PM

The TA&M player is pretty stupid. He has no clue if BV would have called a blitz on his first play or not since he sold out and chose someone else. His intelligence is in serious question here, but it already was since he chose them rather than us. He will be sorry, and he gets to be sorry, at least, twice in a row (2018 & 2019). We will get a great recruit who will choose us, because he believes in us and our coaching staff, and all will be the better for it. A&M is a great school, but there is something in those hills around Clemson that he won't find in TX.
