DJ’s recruiting profile…

Sep 19, 2021, 1:32 AM

“Big, strong armed quarterback with generational arm strength. Has a big frame but looks lean and is well put together. Has one of the strongest arms in recent memory and has won ‘long ball’ contests with a throw of 80+ yards. Is much more than a big arm. Shows great touch, accuracy to all three levels of the field and greet natural feel for throwing the football. Understands when to take a little off, throws with anticipation and is a plus athlete as well. Has the ability to run zone read and is a very good runner in the open field. Can buy time and is accurate throwing down the field rolling out to his right or his left. Natural leader and a great teammate who is also a potential high round draft pick in Major League Baseball. Can still improve going through progressions and finding secondary receivers as well as escaping pressure. Upside is off the charts. Projects as a impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future early NFL draft pick.”

This kid just didn’t wake up and lose all of that talent. I don’t know what they need to do to fix what’s going on, but we all know DJ can play. It’s almost like he has no rhythm with the route running of the receivers. I know he has some mechanical issues, but I think a majority of what’s going on is mental. He needs to have a big game through the air to build his confidence back up.

Hey, look I'm not a FB Coach, I coached BB. But you have to wonder what has happened in the last year? You don't need to go back to his recruiting info . how about the two games last year? What have they screwed up?

I’m starting to think it is the receivers. No one is standing out. Maybe Ngata. What happened to the Ross that played opposite of Tee Higgins?

Receivers can't stand out when the QB can't see them or hit them. His accuracy is pathetic. So sick of the excuses made for DJ. He's just not as good as we thought. It's between the ears. He's mediocre at best. DW4 and TL16 had 10 times the football IQ as DJ.

Yep. We just missed on this one. Nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

The part about the 'long ball" is obvious - Elliott

admitted in his postgame talk that he wouldn't call long passes because he didn't like Tech's defensive alignment. The last 2 years we would have thrown a few 50-50 balls and let the receivers out jump the DB's. I just can't stand 2 to 5 yard pass routes unless that is all we need for a first down.
