Wish the best for him, Oregon State is the perfect offense for DJ. Wish we would’ve catered to his strengths a little more but that’s all in the past now. He is a Clemson Alum so no matter what wish him the best!

I liked DJ the person but not DJ the QB. If we catered a little more to his strengths, he may still be here and we’d be very mediocre again this year. Dabo gave him plenty of opportunities and I’m personally glad he’s gone.

Dabo gave him too many opportunities, mainly that USuC game.

Dabo’s worst coaching job to date was that game.

Dabo was one of DJU's main problems...

He insisted on running the option, something DJU simply couldn't do with consistency. It just wasn't his game, but the coaches wouldn't let go of it.
He's gone; CK2 is here; let it go.

He absolutely should’ve been pulled in the coot game worst game I’ve ever seen a QB have it was like he was already checked out.

That’s true as well, I know you can’t change an entire playbook for one player but you also can’t try to fit a square peg into a round hole either. Just wish it would’ve worked out better for both parties. Glad we finally get to let the Texas Gunslinger loose though 🐅🐅

Throwing an accurate pass and decision making is pretty much a requirement in any offense. I do hope the lower pressure at O-State will help him but don’t see how our scheme was the cause of his issue.

Catering to his strengths would’ve been skipping rocks, throwing incompletions, missing open receivers, and running in place.

have to resort to so much hyperbole and angst when talking about a college kid?
DJU's career completion percentage was 60%. He was hardly "skipping rocks", even as his primary target list included Frank Ladson, Brannon Spector, Ajou squared, a hurt Justyn Ross, EJ Williams, Dacari Collins, and a constantly missing Joe Ngata.
Your attitude makes no sense.

My same thoughts -- wish him well and not taking things personally.
Folks wanna jump on the "this will put Clemson in a negative light if he does well" train but IMO if we take a step forward this year and contend for a CFP spot with the O getting back to Clemson standards...who cares? Negative recruiting happens when you're successful too.

Oregon state. He’s a good kid who took a lot of abuse here. I know he absolutely didn’t fit our offense and lacked in many areas. I hope he balls out this year. I don’t really care how it looks on us or our coaches if he performs great on another team. I’m pulling for him.

That part we couldn’t fix the lights were to bright when things didn’t start well against Georgia. DJs problems imo were never physical it was always mental and that’s a very BAD problem for a QB to have. That’s why I like Cades mentality you’re not gonna get into his head.

I tried to defend DJU for 2/3 of last season. The last few games I lost my ability to. I think DJ just lost confidence. But early on scheme absolutely hurt DJ. Our scheme would have hurt almost any QB. When you had poor protection but you make the QB sit back on long developing plays he’s having to run for his life and throw under pressure. Oregon state is having quick developing routes and dumping the ball out. Much better play calling.

Absolutely. I complained all year about the play calling. I feel bad for DJ. That Carolina game was indeed abysmal though. He must have just been deep in his head by that point

His accuracy isn't very good. He's not hitting receivers in stride.
The TD was behind the receiver but it didn't matter because he was wide open.
DJ is going to struggle when Oregon State can't run the ball down the opponents throat.
