DJ & Dabo

Nov 26, 2022, 4:07 PM

I still love Dabo. This isn’t a rant about that. But I do hope to finally open up discussion as to what is really going on with him and DJ. I have narrowed it down to the following:
1. Dabo, in recruiting DJ, made a promise to Big Dave and DJ that he “would be his quarterback.” Being the Ted Lasso loyalist that he is, he couldn’t possibly break that promise. Hopefully he is more careful with such commitments in the future.
2. DJ arrived, balled out against Notre Dame when Trevor was out, showed promise. But soon his mental fragility was revealed. Poor DJ fell into a depression and questioned everything he had been told about himself. Dabo, being the shepherd he is, decided that poor little DJ needed coddling. No matter the cost.
At some point, despite the obvious fact that DJ has no future in professional athletics, Dabo decided to pretend that DJ was still capable of living up to his promise as a recruit. Or that there was no cost too high for the preservation of DJ’s delusions of greatness.
With the help of Brandon Streeter, DJ’s potential has turned into offensive illiteracy and erosion of talent.
I’m hoping someone can explain it all. Maybe some day there will be a documentary on HBO sports (or Netflix even). But something is clearly rotten, and it’s not ALL DJ’s fault.

A few things stood out today and this season! Today was the worst coaches game I have seen in a long time, primarily with the refusal to take dj out! I don’t see how they can justify in any way at all, leaving him in with klubnick and hunter Johnson on the bench! Then, Dabo made a mistake promoting street we and he needs to remedy that very quickly!

I'd say it's more that critics pointed out the staff

was wrong about DJ and Dabo now refuses to listen to any criticism. It's that prove them all wrong mentality that won two national championships but's more about pride now.

And I love Dabo and often defend him BUT he cost the team this game by keeping DJ in there the whole time. I don’t want to hear “we got outplayed” because that is not true. Our team got put in a position that it should never have been in because of either the stubbornness or the stupidity of our coaches…plain and simple. This loss is on them. Period.

Yep. And I’m sure he’ll readily admit that. “This was on me.” Okay, we agree—but changes need to be made. There have been zero adjustments in-game or out all year. Where is the accountability?
