Something afoot/amiss

stubborn applies for bunches of jobs because him wanna work remote 4ever
applies for many jobs outside of his pay grade. gets some bites, but since he's trying to punch above his weight class, he doesn't get many of the higher-end ones (hence queshon about the MBA the other day). Finally applies for jobs in his weight class last week. Gets multiple bites immediamente.
stubborn has interview this morning with hr screener. then gets moved on to 2nd interview with VP at end of day. interviewer compliments stubborn and says he checks all the boxes. stubborn has interview tomorrow with C-something or other.
glass door reviews aren't bad. team is growing fast, though, and they're hiring a bunch of positions in this department.
stubborn would be first in new role. go from > 5 direct reports to no direct reports. 20% raise and better bonus in a more appealing industry. more actual work and less actual hand-holding for other peeple.
what is stubborn missing? is the line between middle/product management and senior management that thin? stubborn no care if he jixes hisself, cause this is all a game.
"worse" thought is that they work people like dogs there. stubborn can handle that, though.

that knows how to pay people.
For example, 7 people have left my old company in the past 15 months. 3 of those were willing to tell their new salary. They all got at least 20 grand more.

Why not mix it up and go for broke with 2nd person? Throw a “you” in there instead of “I”. Set the trends man, don’t follow em.

#### dude. You're back on the sauce, aren't you? Look man, put the bottle down, take a half xanax, and fall asleep watching some chick flick like The Notebook or The Handmaids' Tail or something. You'll thank me in the morning.
Oh, and good luck with the C-section interview and whatnot.

Not only do you realize that life was more fun and interesting when you were younger, but you also don’t have the drive and stamina to live that way anymore even if you wanted to.
It’s a massive tease from God. There’s a good 5 plus years of missing the old days before you resume enjoying the present fully.

I'm 37...and I thoroughly appreciate my life now in comparison to my 20s.
20s-broke, single, rent/moving from place to place every year, drunk all the time
late 30s-rich, married, own big house, drunk on weekends

Aight... bored I can relate to, given that I've cut my old band-playing rock n roll consumption by half, or close to it anyway. Relieve your boredom for a moment by regaling La Lunge with a story of young-buzzed craziness. You gotta have a weed sack full of'em.

FBCoachSC® and the Snapchat gang tell you about the Tale of Frizzle's Revenge.
Obed® knows all about Frizzle. This turned out the exact opposite of that. It's so low that I don't think I've ever told the junge about it. But since you asked.
It had to do with me being the aggressor in a physical altercation with a homeless man in the Vista, 2 nights before Christmas in December of 2020. Don't worry, he wasn't old or anything. He was just a drunk like me so we were on equal footing except for the part where I had a house and stuff.

get me to call an Uber and I called cmfreeman instead. I don't remember any of it. I went on auto-pilot from about 7pm to 1:30am, at which point I have no clue where I went or what I did. I do know that Home Team served me 1 drink, as that was the lone charge on my debit card for the night. How I got so wasted I do not know.
I had a "cleaning fee" from Uber the next morning, and I'm still not sure if that was pee pee or vomit. That night, I woke up on the front porch with my pants around my knees. And my perfect 5* rating had dropped to 4.2 stars, presumabe because of a 1 star rating.

No different guy, same deal. Was approached and asked for

money. I wasn't in a good mood. Was on the phone with my dad because my brother had gotten lost (I think high on heroin or pills - his 2nd relapse) down there and I was looking for him because he was wandering around himself. Anyway, the guy got very aggressive when I told him to #### off and got in my face and the next thing you know he was on the ground(insert stronger than the average american male thing here). Very blurry. Probably a flurry of sloppy, drunken fists, but I can't be too sure. Adrenaline kicked in just enough where I briefly blacked out during that, but remember all the rest.
Clearly not right in the head (both of us). My dad drove from Pageland to Columbia in about 40 minutes after hearing all of that unfold on the phone. Then my brother wanted to fight me, citing our scuffle in Vegas in 2017. It was a tough time. stubborn was not in a good place.

it kept getting worse after that. I would moderate for periods of weeks and then have total meltdowns that resulted in thousands of dollars of damage to my vehicle and other peoples' property and irreparable damage to my reputation at work and in teh community. How I kept my job and still have it, I don't really know other than my company is risk averse and are probably worried about me pulling the disability card.
in all seriousness, it's fun to laugh about now. but i was really hurting in a way that's hard to explain now. i wouldn't wish that life on my worst enemy. i really wouldn't.

Along the lines of this thread, I’m an incredibly more boring person now than I was in my 20’s, but I think I probably also score a little higher on the “quality human being” test than I did then too. I’m not trying to sound down-talking or anything, but in my experience mid-late 30’s is the first time I can honestly say I kind of started to figure out this whole life game out. Before that just involved effing up enough to get the experience required to figure it out.

unfold on the phone and told me to get the #### away from him before I got stabbed. I ultimately slipped him and went and sat on the steps beside the parking garage at the state house. I had spotted my brother at this point, and was just keeping an eye on him because he would literally run from me when I tried to approach him. Paranoia. Think he thinks I was trying to get him or something. Maybe meth and not heroin, I don't know? Weirdest I've ever seen him act.
I do know that before I left my house to Uber down there and look for him, I was alert/scared enough to take his pistol out of his truck and unload it before we got back home. He had called me on the phone telling me he was going to kill me.
Cocaine.

aerozeptallica (post below) has a good perspective.
There are LOTS of companies these days who have struggled to retain and attract (R&A) employees. Despite all of the happy talk about "team environment" and "satisfying work / life balance," the main factor in R&A is still compensation.
Since you wrote that you're not afraid of your target employers alleged reputation to "work people like dogs" and that your target job is a new role for the employer.
With the pay being 20% more and the industry being appealing to you ... then WTH is holding you back?
DO IT.
