Ranking berries..

Feb 22, 2022, 8:53 PM

I've been on a berry kick lately. Here is my ranking of the top 5 most popular berries in America.

1) Raspberries - Simultaneously sweet and sour, this is my fave. No noticeable impact on poop, good or bad.
2) Blueberries - Very sweet, make me poo poo real good. A little high in sugar (relatively)
3) Strawberries - I don't like when they're hard (lutz), but a super-ripe, juicy strawberry is decent. I hate the little green things on them, though and the white stuff at the top. Influence on BM undetermined due to a lack of evidence.
4) Blackberries - These have a decent taste, but the texture of the little seedlings that give it the "crunch" hurt my teeth. I only use these to supplement #1 or #2. Eating these by themselves makes you poop like a bird.
5) Cranberries - These are the devil's creation. Bitter and gross. Cranberries are only good for me to poop on.

Thank you for reading my berry ranking. I'll have a ranking of other fruits in the near future.

We have a few mulberry trees around the compound.

Feb 23, 2022, 8:45 AM

Mrs. will harvest them in the spring and make all kinds of things with them. Things that aren't bad, but not necessarily delicious either. You're right that they aren't overly flavorful, but I suppose they are healthy to consume. Well, except for maybe the mulberry cocktails and the mulberry moonshine.

I got huckleberries over blackberries. List looks good, though.

You also left off black currants and açaí, both of which are great, and red currants and goji berries which are groce.

They’ve fed blueberry extracts to diabetic mice and their diabetes resolves. There are a lot of phenol compounds in blueberries that tend to selectively increase favorable foregut microbiome diversity and restore diurnal oscillation of the microbiota that impact the upregulation and production of endocrine molecules from intestinal I cells, notably GLP1 and GIP.

So, I say blueberries are the best.

1 - Strawberries - Worked on a strawberry farm for 4 summers. Ate 1 gallon or more each day during those summers. They're the best. Strawberry shortcake???? come on dude. T.H.E. B.E.S.T.
2 - Blackberries - Grow all over the place. Nothing better than going on a hike, bike ride, or sneaking off to pee at a concert parking lot and finding a berry patch. Store-bought ones are off the hook as well. Blackberry Brambles... awesome bourbon drink.
3 - Blueberries - The tart ones are the best. I can eat pounds of them. Blueberry muffins??? Blueberry bagels???? But sometimes those really mushy ones are bland AF - Honestly I think I ranked them too high.
4 - Raspberries - The taste is better than blackberries, but the waxy/chalky mouthfeel that sometimes scrapes across my teeth makes my skin crawl. Plus, it seems that I can only get ones at the store that seem to be a month old. Flavor is on point though. That mouthfeel makes me want to stomp a puppy into a greasy stain.
5 - Cranberries - only good around Thanksgiving or Christmas. Cranberry/Vodka is a great drink. Hotel breakfasts - that cran-apple hits the spot. Also, everybody knows that Ocean Spray is really just pee.
