before George Washington?

George Washington was simply the first President after the U.S. Constitution was created and ratified.

The original Presidency after the Declaration of Independence was a truly administrative position. He had very little power and could only write and send a letter with approval from the state reps of the Continental congress.

Wasn't quite the USA then, presidents of the Continental Congress, even GW was first elected president of the United Colonies. The name "USA" wasn't official to Sept 1776. just a technicality

Most of the names, I remember hearing years ago in history classes. Very interesting video, funny some served only a few months and one wanted out after only a week. 14 in total, when I first read title, was guessing only two or three.

My uncle was sworn in and took the oath of office of the President of the United States on January 19th, 1937. I was not born yet, but it has always been a proud day for our family!
