I swear, every year its somebody else. He'll more than likely miss the season as well.

Assuming we have 2 capable starters at CB

Mar 9, 2016, 3:09 PM

this might be a blessing in disguise. A chance for Baker to put on a little more weight and come back ready to go in 2017.

Hate to say it but an ACL injury is never a blessing in disguise, or any blessing for that matter. He will have a long recovery ahead of him. I feel for the young man. Get well soon Baker

Blessing in disguise? We just lost 3 DBs early to the draft and Baker was surely going to be in the 2 deep and have a more substantial role this season. Plus it really takes 2 years to really recover physically and mentally.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Deshaun Watson begs to differ. It doesn't take 2 yeara

Unless it is reinjured or there is another injury. Most heal up just fine

The advances in the medical world......

Mar 9, 2016, 3:12 PM [ in reply to Re: FB Update: Clemson DB suffers a torn ACL ]

.....have come a long long way. Now I am with you and will be surprised if he makes it back this year and it looks like maybe one of those freshmen coming in will definitely miss a redshirt. I think Baker was probably the 3rd CB with Fields and Tank being 1 and 2. Need Mullen to come in ready more than ever. Wallace looks like he can play either CB or safety so we'll see when the rest of this class comes in but hate to hear this was the year for Baker. Fingers crossed he can make it back second half of the season....

Similar to the Wiggins injury last year.

Mar 9, 2016, 3:21 PM

We definitely had more busted plays with one less experienced man. We are pretty dang thin at DB. Can't afford another blow like this.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We had a lot more talent and depth at that position

Mar 9, 2016, 3:31 PM

This is worse.

This sucks. Praying for a speedy recovery AB.***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no, Wiggins was worse, we didn't have anybody that could

Mar 9, 2016, 3:43 PM [ in reply to We had a lot more talent and depth at that position ]

actually cover at his position after he went down...we have plenty of CBs...We had ONE guy who could cover like a CB and tackle like a LB and that was Wiggins

Did he come in for Mackenzie Alexander in in the Natty?***

Yes, he played most of the snaps when Alexander went out.

Thank goodness we landed Mullen.

Mar 9, 2016, 4:33 PM

I think Fields, Tootie, Carter, and Mullen will be solid enough - maybe even great. Can't afford any more injuries there, though, or else we'll end up like LB last year.

This is why people complain about takes like Dawkins and Trapp instead of a guy like Kareem Orr. Hopefully Dawkins or Trapp show out and contribute at some point down the line, though. Gotta root for the guys that are here.

Re: FB Update: Clemson DB suffers a torn ACL

Mar 9, 2016, 6:02 PM

We will still be fine. Have faith in our Coaching staff developing some of this young talen . We will be thin until the rest of the class arrives, then we will be fine. Look for guys like D. Johnson, M. Fields, R. Carter, K. Chalmers and of course Tank to contribute by committee for now. We get 2 studs this summer in Mullen and Wallace, hopefully they can learn the coverages quick. On that note, I really think Safety will be our strong point. Even tho we lack depth at the moment, we have talent. Johnson and Wiggins will start (as long as Wiggins gets healthy) with strong backups in Van Smith and Tanner Muse. And also add in a talented Simmons this summer. I'm very excited. We have top notch coaches to develope these guys, we'll be fine.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

bad Luck Mr Baker but hang in there & all will work out!

Mar 9, 2016, 7:02 PM

Appreciate your play last year..especially those 2 huge INT's vs Noles & Coots!!

Complete confidence in Mark Fields and his ability. Little worried about the depth but not the talent.
