Despite being a fairly knowledgeable gearhead

Jul 20, 2022, 5:33 PM

I’m not sure I even realized until just now that Dodge, as a brand, literally only sells three models: Charger, Challenger, Durango.

What a bizarre brand strategy. They killed off Plymouth for less than that.

I don;t think I ever cared enough to look

Jul 20, 2022, 5:37 PM

But yeah, you are correct. How stupid are they that 2023 is going to be the last year of the hemi?

Just about the time they get decent transmissions, they scrap they whole reason behind having them.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And theyre doing away with the Hemi

Stellantis bought Challenger/Charger and i believe Durango. By 23-24' they'll either be eradicated or electric. The people that buy these aren't going to want electric. I know I will not.

Chrysler only has 2 vehicles.

Jul 20, 2022, 5:44 PM

Well 3--one of them is a hybrid.

Pacifica, Pacifica Hybrid, and the 300.

I guess they are well prepared for the eventual closure and divestiture.

How weird that Jeep has 11 vehicles (9 really..2 are hybrids).

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Seems really strange.

Jul 20, 2022, 6:05 PM

Are there any standalone Dodge or Chrysler dealers anymore or did they cut those guys loose in 08 and they all have Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/Jeep now?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpgringofhonor-obed.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think they are.

Jul 21, 2022, 12:49 PM

And Rick Hendrick (you know..the guy that was supposed to be dying in jail) has about 2/3 of all those dealerships.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I shouldn't say they are only driven by stripers

Jul 21, 2022, 11:19 AM

when in fact, many different types of sexworkers drive/drove them.

That's a joke amongst my friends. One of them is a major F-up. He *was* married with 3 kids and bought a stripper a Neon.

I once was vibing with this girl back in college and I found out she drove a Neon, and that really soured her on me. I thought I was too good to date white-trash. Irony bc I drove a 14 year old jeep cherokee with rhino lined interior and no headliner (with creed sticker on the back windshield).

For guys my age, the demise of Plymouth & Dodge has been sad

Jul 20, 2022, 10:15 PM

just from a nostalgic standpoint. Like so many other things. That low guttural rumble when a guy down the street cranked up his late 60's GTO. A good HS friend of mine inherited his great aunt's Plymouth Fury 3... basic sedan, that a little old lady only drove to church and back, right? Man, that #### was a monster, it would fly. I've been in it at over 140mph. Mopar, Hemi, etc... RIP.

Why not just have one brand..Call it GMC..and market every car and truck they have under it?

Its dumb that GM competes against itself with SUV and truck sales.
