Deshaun Watson and INTs.....

Deshaun is not like other QBs we are used to seeing. He is likely going to throw some INTs. There have only been 4 games this year where he did not throw an INT, and they were all blowouts (SCSU, BC, Syracuse, Wake). If he doesn't throw an INT against Bama, Clemson will win in a blowout.
Even if he does throw INTs, Clemson usually wins. Because in the end, he makes far more positive plays than negative plays. Tim Bourret threw out a stat about Clemson earlier this, that I don't completely remember, but it went something like this.. If Clemson lost the turnover battle by more than 2 turnovers, they were 9-0 over the past 2 years (This was prior to the Pitt game). The winning percentage for most of college football in that situation is less than 20%. That is not just a statistical anomaly, there is something behind it. Based on the type of offense we run, the number of plays we try to run in a game, and Deshaun's willingness to take risks, we put ourselves in harm's way. But despite that, Deshaun does more good than bad, and we find a way to win (usually).
The press would have you believe than Watson must be mistake free to have a chance against Bama. I am telling you that if we have no turnovers against Bama this game will not be pretty for Bama. Even if Deshaun has a couple of INTs, I like our chances AS LONG AS WE LIMIT BAMAs RUNNING GAME. I think that is the big key for us.

If we lose the TO battle by 1 I agree we are still in it (same as last years game we lost it 1-0). Keep in mind bama is GREAT at returning TOs for points. we cant give them multiple opportunities.

my key to the game is avoiding explosive plays by Bama. The biggest reason we lost last year was OJ Howard getting open all night and the one time the Heisman *cough* winner broke a long one.
We simply have to make them earn everything they get and the outcome will be a Clemson victory. They can't keep up with our offense if we take care of the ball and don't miss assignments on defense. In other words, play like we did against the bucknuts.

A lot of his picks were Deflected balls and some were , the receiver slipped , fell down or ran
to the wrong spot . Those red zone interceptions were costly , but not all on Deshawn .

and win the game. I understood your point-we can overcome a couple TOs.
Looking back at last year's game, I see the biggest reason we lost were blown assignments on defense and special teams. The good news is we're deeper this time.
