For CU basketball, a 5th place conf finish plus trip to the dance plus a bunch of big OCC wins is a very successful season. We were picked 10th in the preseason polls...

###### mentality.
You don’t get what you want or what you expect or what you think you deserve. Most often you get out what you put in to something. As good as Dabo has been as a HC what if we had not invested $100MM+ in a football facility or hired 50 staffers or agreed to the highest payroll for assistants in CFB? Maybe instead of spending $25MM on a new football scoreboard we should invent in the basketball program?
For what we are spending CBB is giving a nice return. If we replace him it will not be a name brand coach. The new coach from the SoCon or other small conference will either do well and leap to the next job or fall flat so we start over again. We have seen Wake, GT and NCSU among others try to play the coaching carousel thinking the HC was the issue but the only thing they accomplished was going broke paying buyouts.

Can you tell us specifically what the basketball program needs?

If they had a bigger budget, what should it be spent on?
What other staffers should they be able to hire?

No.
And if you say yes, you are part of the problem. Stagnant. Boring. Inconsistent. Predictable. Sloppy.
11 years running.
Top recruits do not want to play in a system like Brownell’s. It doesn’t matter how nice you are or how well you recruit. The product you are selling is not valuable. People are not buying.

Those wins were awesome early in the season, but it's been the usual up-and-down season for this program. We get ranked as high as twelve and get blown out 2 straight games. And I don't buy the COVID excuse. If only I haven't seen this before, I would have accepted that excuse.
I would say no.

And Space Coast champs. Don’t forget that tourney win.

But seriously, with COVID all of this had a huge asterisk beside it. I do not like ending the season with two tournament losses but it is Clemson basketball after all and we do have COVID. Who knows what it would have looked like without the first COVID interruption that really seemed to kill our momentum.

How could we possibly forget winning two games in November in an empty high school gymnasium?
And don’t forget...we were world champions just a couple years ago.

No. That rough ending is kind of important.

You play all year to build for the post-season.
One-and-done in both tournaments is abysmal.

IMHO, no. This team regressed as the season went on. The first few months they were exciting to watch. CBB played more players than usual and they played freely and could beat you in a variety of ways. Towards the end, it was the same old crap I’ve seen from CBB coached teams. Ugly, low scoring street fights that we usually wind up on the losing end of. I’ve personally seen and had enough of the Brownell era. I’m sick of hearing him bark out orders and micromanage every offensive possession. It’s ugly basketball that’s hard to watch.

If you have to ask this than NO What I saw in the last game of the season proves that this season was just AVG. No way a well coached team plays like they did in the last 2 games . I can understand having a bad day but they both looked exactly the same . Which means they are coached to play this awful.
