Delightful Chaos

Oct 19, 2020, 8:12 PM

This past weekend three of my nieces visited us here in Clemson. One was from Tampa (FSU) and two were from Raleigh (NC State). It must have been a red letter day at our house because all three teams, including our Tigers, were winners.

Their arrival was during the first half of the Clemson/Georgia Tech game so that meant no TV during that time. Then there was preparations for a late lunch which included the final seven minutes of the first half of our game. Someone had turned one of the TV's back on and kept reporting the score. I rushed back to the den to see the replay. No sooner had I returned to my task when someone said, "another TD for the Tigers". As all of you are aware, this continued to the last few seconds of the first half.

A similar pattern occurred during the second half. I couldn't ignore my nieces so did not see much of the second half and Haven't had time to enjoy a replay of the entire game. Maybe I can work part of it back in sometime tonight. SO, here I sit and not able to express my thoughts about the game except to say I'm happy we were able to eke out a victory over the Bumbling Bees.

Did not get to watch any of the Notre Dame/Louisville game but based solely on the 12 - 7 final score, I don't get all of this love being heaped on the Irish. Heck, we scored 73 on the team that defeated Louisville. If name recognition can elicit this much love from the sports writers, Clemson's future looks bright.

Bulldogs/Red Elephants. I still can't figure out these two teams. Sometimes they look like world beaters and sometimes they look like the Gamecocks. More comments about these two teams after I've had a chance to absorb what I witnessed on TV.

And now for a medical report that may have some bearing on my above comments. Several months ago my Doctor put me on a new medication. I can't even pronounce the name of the drug but it's usually referred to as the Anti-Smart drug. At my recent visit to doctor, the report stated that in my case the drug was a complete success.

I don’t think the love for Notre Dame has anything at all to do with the quality of the Notre Dame football team. 51 million Catholics in this country. Which is very close to 102 million Catholic eyeballs.

It’s the carnival barker sports media, pandering to the potentially large Catholic audience.
Honesty takes a back seat to making a buck.....just the way everybody likes their sports.

As far as the ND game goes, I didn't watch it, but the score was being shown during 'our' game. It was 12 - 7 for a very long time before the end. So, I don't think any of us missed anything.
