Defining game for Elliot

Oct 14, 2021, 8:49 PM

Tony Elliot is at a crossroads against Syracuse. If he hasn't figured it out by now he's not going to.
He had the off week to figure it out. If they struggle I'm guessing he will be gone after the season. If there isn't improvement this will be the same offense in 2022 if Dabo keeps him.
Enough about the QB and O line, these are 4-5 star Players. Most people understand that you will have a off season from time to time. This isn't a off season it's one of the worst offenses in college football. This is a coach with talent who can't figure out how to use it. Once again I'm not talking about a average offense. This is one of the worst in the country with top level talent. Other teams are doing much more with 2-3 stars and walk-on's. I love TE as most fans do but the truth is the truth. I'm hoping they gain 500 yards and score 45 points against Cuse and TE is here for a long time. Go Tigers

I think the last natty might have been a bit more defining.

Approx . 46 offensive coordinators would have won a championship with that team.

Agree with tomorrow, if after 2 weeks and Syracuse being on a short week he doesn’t put together something better than what he put together against UGA, it will be brutal on here about 11 p.m. tomorrow night

If he hasn't figured it out since BC, he won't. Tomorrow will tell.

Dabo will not let TE go. He will go to another job in the off season I'm guessing. The second guessing by some fans will get to him and he will look for his next gig.

TE’s stock is dropping. Why would another team want his stale offense and lack of creativity?

Most likely a head coaching job at a much smaller program.***

In my opinion. Seems to be the best fit for him at this point, and someone would hire him.

You really are a turd. I'm so sick of your POTD comments that are vanilla as all h-e-double hockey sticks.

You are welcome Francine, just trying to help by tempering expectations and showing a different view that does not have orange-colored lenses. Nothing personal. Just sick of losing again (did this in the 90's and 00's).

Have a blessed day though!

I don't know if this is the defining game for Tony Elliott ,but it very well could be the defining game
for the season. Lose tonight, your season is effectively over.[Probably] No chance to win the conference.
Win tonight but struggle like you did against our 3 other conference opponents, and Pittsburg will bury us next week, and that definitely will be the end of the season.
Show major improvement and I mean major improvement from the offense ,everything out side the CFP''s is still on the table.
I don't know how many yards or points are needed, but what I need to see is an offense that is running on all 8 cylinders, and not one needing a new tune -up .

Pitt lost to Western Michigan. Not exactly

Oct 15, 2021, 7:27 AM

a powerhouse.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They're averaging 54 points a game..Not sure we can score 34

Oct 15, 2021, 9:02 AM

I can name about 2 drives where our offense looked like it knew what it was doing. The rest has been clunky and confused. Where did those drives from the Notre Dame go? Did they just do nothing but confuse the heck out of DJ all summer? He didn't look this tentative against ND. He was decisive, fluid, and accurate.

I just think the offensive coaches must have over complicated it for him this year and he's not playing but thinking. Its kinda like our Basketball team. The new guys start the year and look fearless. Then the more PT they get the more conservative and scared they get. Its like our coaches over complicate the game. Ya'll remember how Nick Honor started last year.. he was just going out there and balling.. shooting and making crazy 3's and driving and dishing, playing fast not thinking too much just reacting. Then he began playing more and starting games and that's when I can only assume our coaches tried to relegate him to a role i guess and his effectiveness dried up. I think these coaches gotta know when to pull back and just let these guys play.

34? What offense are you watching? LOL!

good enough to hold them to 20 pts under their norm but that means we still gotta put up probably 30-35 to win. Which it sounds like you agree.

I don't know if Dabo will pull the trigger though. It's been a decade since he's fired a coach. And to make matters worse, Tony Elliot has been staying in order to get a better job offer. After this offensive disaster this year, how many quality offers is he actually going to get?

Re: Defining game for Elliot

Well if he doesn't no way can u go into next year with this stale playbook u have to change this playbook it's not rocket science even Stoops at Kentucky has a pro coordinator u have to go get an offense that will make the defense pay.

detractors wrong.

Personally, I think he leaves after the season regardless of what happens tonight or for the rest of this year.

If he turns things around, he probably leaves for a great new job as HC somewhere.

If he fails, he probably just leaves ...

Either way, I don’t see TNet having Tony Elliott to kick around any more.

All I want for Christmas is for Clemson to bring in some bright young offensive mind, not from the Clemson coaching/player tree either. Someone with vision and creativity.

That is all!

and his 2 million a year. It must be tuff facing all these upset fans.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well said.

Oct 15, 2021, 11:16 AM

Seems like if you point out the obvious like that it really angers some people on TNET. You got a couple of TDs just because of the truth.

No one wants TE to succeed more than me. It's awesome to have continuity on the staff and I was super excited when he didn't leave to be a head coach. Also, TE seems like a fine person, family man, and sharp too.

BUT, this offense isn't just off it's one of the worst offenses in the country.

Through five games I haven't seen a single play I haven't seen 100x before. The playcalling is stale, anyone can see that and opposing defenses who have trouble with likes of Northern Illinois are stopping us cold.

I hope he figures it out, I really do but how many more games do you need to see?

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

1st play of the BC game was different... then it went back
