Defensive End position in 2015

Jun 17, 2014, 9:09 PM

With the loss of Beasley, Crawford, and Barnes we'll definitely struggle with depth. We'll be left with Shaq, Ebo, Dane Rogers, Martin Aiken, and Yeargin III. Although I see Register moving to defensive end at some point in his career after seeing a picture of him on the camp photos.

In 2015:

Shaq Lawson: going to be the star after an outstanding freshman season.

Ebo: was solid at the spring game but is going to limited with experience with playing behind 3 seniors. I expect to start the 2015 season opener.

Dane Rogers/Martin Aiken: rotation players.

Yeargin III: converted from linebacker, probably will take redshirt this year to develop and fill out the 6'4 frame.

Register: BIG, hopefully converts to DE at some point. Upside is tremendous at either position.

The 2015 commits: Clelin Ferrell and LaSamuel Davis, lanky frames and needs to redshirt. I would love to see us land a commit that already has a college-ready body but with limited numbers we're about done this year. The defensive end position should be one of the top priorities in 2016.

I know Albert Huggins hasn't committed, and I don't wanna

Seem over confident that we'll land him, but all signs seem positive, and he could help at that position?

He and Austin Bryant

Can contribute early.

Both are Clemson's to lose.

Huggins will be a DT and Austin Bryant will be a rush end

The coaches are telling him DE but I think he ends up eventually at DT.

Huggins can play right away , and no question has the build already to step right in .

After watching our current line play I really think you have to look at the group as a whole.

Ebo, Reader, Pagano, Lawson.

A nice rebound from our current DL I think.

that's an outstanding DL there and don't forget about Carolos Watkins there coming off of his redshirt. But depth is my issue.

Recent pictures of Pagano look like he's a full grown man.

With Register, (hopefully) Huggins, and Bryant, we'll be in good shape considering how we've been recruiting our needs. We should be great on D this year, but IMO, we won't see a dramatic drop off after this year....Kearse, Boulware, Alexander, ect; point being, CU should be set up for a great run for years to come.

BV likes big LB I don't see Register moving to DE. Who can play the position at 260.

Playing LB at 260 has pros and cons as well though.

Great for run stopping but tough for pass coverage unless he moves freakishly well with that kind of weight on him.
