Defense start to finish

Dec 5, 2016, 9:57 AM

My Tigers come out blazing on defense just about every game against any opponent. As the games go on they seem to falter some time during the games most of the time it's a coverage bust leading to a big play or TD. Is this good adjustment by the other teams or a problem with coverage responsibility? Take away those plays and we play lights out withe the best D-line in the nation

heard a roundtable on our Defense

say we have monsters on D, but for some reason, just allow long drives. They think it's b/c we have to blitz a lot of make up for a secondary. Basically they are saying our D isn't close to our D last yr.

But regardless, I'd agree. We're either hot or cold in our games. The Pitt and VT games, we should've blown them out but our D didnt play well. We just keep teams in games.

I do think our turnovers have played a little role in most games but not the VT and Pitt games.

With our offense humming again, we need the D to step up.

Clemson's LBs are soft on pass coverage. Got to fix this. And the defense often allows the other guys to get back in the game by:

1. Taking penalties
2. Targeting calls
3. Busted coverages
4. Letting up on pressure.

The offense is talented but sloppy at times with interceptions, drops, blown blocks, and penalties. I get the impression that Clemson is so talented that they sometimes feel they can get away with crap like this. It has got to stop right now. Ohio State is not Aw-Burn or Lewis-Ville, or Semi-Hole, or Va Tech Turkeys. Urban Meyer's team is the real deal. Very talented and disciplined. The Tigers, in all likelihood, will not get away with junk. Hopefully, the next four weeks of practice, film, teaching and rest will correct some of this. Goooooo Tigers!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes this year with our D, it's like a little adversity

our one play just deflates them for the rest of the series. How many times have we seen them stop somebody only to have a penalty of some sort and then just give up a big drive

I agree.
It seems that 1 play or 1 big penalty and the D just folds and lets a quick drive run right over them.
Conversely, the D stood up after the interception and shut the door hard..only to let it swing open later again.
