Defense played good enough to win...

Nov 25, 2012, 9:29 AM

We had short fields on offense in 2nd quarter to go up 21 7 or 28 7 and couldn't get it done. Tajh was just missing easy throws early and getting behind schedule. Hard for me to blame defense. Should have been up 2-3 scores at half and its a different game.

And where the heck was Sammy. Did nothing

Are you seriouse?....

We didn't hold them to one three and out all night. Also, how about the third and 16 late in the fourth quarter and we let there 2nd string, "non running" qb scramble for 19yards and a 1st down. C'mon man

27 points is pretty good...

for 48 minutes of work

From that perspective, it's not bad; and yes, the offense

Nov 25, 2012, 9:49 AM

failed miserably when they had opportunities. But, while the defense kept the points down, they failed at stopping the coots and could not get their offense off the field to save their lives. I think they failed miserably as well.

The fact that our defense is horrible...

Nov 25, 2012, 9:53 AM

Did not catch me by surprise.

I'm ready for the Sammy suspension to be over. Is there more to this that we don't know? I like Adam Humphries, but why in the heck don't we try to get the ball in the hands of game changers more. Something has to be going on.

Me either, but the way we were horrible surprised me.

Nov 25, 2012, 10:13 AM

I didn't expect our opportunities on offense to be so limited. I think their defense had a lot to do with how we played offensively, including the plays we ran and who we did or did not get the ball to.

The Time of possession is a 2 way street

Nov 25, 2012, 10:08 AM [ in reply to From that perspective, it's not bad; and yes, the offense ]

While the D didn't get off the field very well, the offense didnt hang onto the ball at all.

I would say that's more on the offense with this team. I thought the defense played much better than normal with a good push upfront and some ok coverage in the secondary.

The offense really concerns me. I thought we were about to run up the score after our o-line manhandled their D in the 1st quarter, but that was the only time they looked like that. The offense was so bad, I don't really know which phase was worse: o line, qb, wr, te? In the end it doesn't matter, but the turnovers were absolutely devastating.

I understand that, and I'm not giving anybody a pass here.

Nov 25, 2012, 10:20 AM

I think what is going on here is that expectations were much higher for our offense; we expected our defense to be bad. I think what happened with our offense is simple; we ran into the best defense that we faced all year, particularly in the trenches, and across the board in terms of physicality and aggressiveness, and we just did not respond very well. 11 weeks of fairly soft ACC defenses did not prepare us well.

Tajh doesn't play well when he's pressured, and he was

thinking about getting sacked every snap.

agree. when you look at stats it doesnt seem that way but after the long td to nuk y'alls offense never sustained anything. defense was asked to do too much.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The offense couldn't do jack ####.

Nov 25, 2012, 9:45 AM

What we needed was points before halftime. But our line let Tajh get pressured and he threw a pick. That changed the game momentum wise.

There's something in these hills.

You are right sir!!! It was the 1.3 million $ man!!!!

Nov 25, 2012, 9:47 AM

The defense only gave up 17 points through 3 quarters...thats winning football. If anything, our 1.3 million dollar offensive coordinator did a #### poor job of making adjustments to the coot defensive adjustments. No help on Clowney, no quick screens to Sammy, basically abandoned the run, no draws or misdirection to slow the rush. Outside of the one 4th and 19 converson the defense gave up.....I think they played their butts off.

Neither side played well enough to win...

Nov 25, 2012, 10:18 AM

Defense could not get off the field and the offense could not get a rythum going to stay on the field. It was a poor game plan and the SC defense outperformed our offense. Their offense did just enough and got a few calls that kept them on the field.

I agree although the 3 missed interceptions really hurt us. Key to the game was to get Taj more time to throw and they made no adjustments to make this happen.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

agreed..the offense couldn't sustain drives***
